Centipede was a girl's game. Missile command certainly had something
though, not least that rollerball thing which was somewhat unique in its
    time.

Tempest, that was another I thought deserved awards. And I was quite taken
with Battlezone, it started the line-vector graphics thing that Star Wars
followed up on. That was another goody.

Hang on....I sense I'm getting old and boring....

Missile Command was a good game, I also liked Joust,
Galaxians(obviously), Moon Cresta(remember that), and Donkey Kong.

Oh I don't deny that you can make some very nice machines from scratch , but
it won't look quite like the real thing.
An odd choice , as arcade games will almost certainly not run at the
    screen's native resolution

  6. I'm running it under MAME and have been for some time.

Works perfectly in XP and is identical to the arcade version that
Williams did. You can even go through all the diagnostic checks on it :)

  8. Galaxians definitely. Missile command was ok but got too hectic for me
after 5 or 6 levels, even back then.

It was but a prototype, and it was said it was too difficult, and it was
    gonna get binned.
And the rest, as they say, is history.

I need to find some time to check out these emulator doobreys. Actually, I
probbly don't, when Williams released their Arcade Classics, my career lost
    about 6 months.....

I could clock that too [1]. Partly because some technician left the keys
in the back of it whilst he went for a cupotea at our local sports centre.
So we visited over the next year, played it to buggery and shifted bags of
10ps out the back to pay for fags. Amazed me they left it there for so
long, 'cos it wasn't making money.....

Ho hum....I wouldn't tolerate it in my own children....

[1] Going backwards...that was the trick....

  17. Ho Yuss. I loved that and they used to have it down the leisure centre.

Star Wars was another good vector game and in colour, too!

  18. I was probably spending more time wanking to dirty mags in the woods and
could only go to Brighton to the arcades when I went to see my Nan and
then I only had a fiver, which didn't last long.
