Well we tried out the Valkyrie, this weekend. We rode down deep into
Louisana. From Texarkana to Lafayette is 500 mile round trip. We didnt
even leave here till 8pm Friday Night. Met Daughter and husband KB in
    Shreveport about 930pm.
~We visited, looked around a bit at the Isle Of Capri Casino. They
bragged on our new ''Ride'', we all mount up, and off to Natchitoches,
La. about 1 & 15minutes, got in the Motel at 1130pm. BTW, riding at
night was so nice and cool.
~Next morning, up early and on down to Lafayette. (note) Lafayette is
only 75 miles straight west of Baton Rouge.
I told Honey, upfront, that our weekend ride, would mainly be an
endurance ride, not sight seeing. For two reasons, one the 100* weather,
and humidity, and the short time spent in Lafayette. KB, wanted to check
on an Iron work construction job of his company, which would be a 30
minutes deal, then, and after eating lunch, head back to Shreveport.
~~But, going back, we rode mostly state roads, to Natchitoches. Staying
    off the Hot Slab.
~~Riding Slabs has got to be 10 degrees hotter, than state highways. One
main reason, is trees! They give shade along the way.
~~I learned one thang about the Valk, it puts off as much heat, as any
    Harley.
KB said ''well hell,Willie, you are straddle-ing a 6 cylinder, dang
    engine''. (heh-heh)
But, it was hot, but also, it was South Lousiana Hot weather, and high
    humidity.
~~One more thang, when we got to Shreveport Saturday night, we wanted to
stay down town, at Holiday Inn,
No dice, by the time we rode in circles for 45 minutes trying to get to
it, the dang thang' was full, from a convention.
~~We had to settle for a place out on east I-20.
~~This Morning, Sunday, KB and Daughter, started up the Harley, and by
630am, they left for Dallas area, they had another 155 miles, we only
    had 80 miles to home.
Mucho fun, inspite of the Heat.

IMO, if you don't have to ride too fast, the Valk is a lot
    more enjoyable(aka cooler) without a fairing/windshield.

    Oh yeah, good buddy.
    No complainto.
This is our first real '' highway ride on it'', and I knew KB, my
soNlaw, would want to race or something.
But,I didnt want to do a scratch 1/4 miler. So, I pulled up by him at
65mph, and motioned '' that we should twist the throttles'' abit.
We did, and I out accelarated him, not alot, just a little, but still I
    did.
I shut mine off, when I hit 90mph, which wasnt very far down the slab,
    you know.
I pulled up by him again, on his Screeming Eagle Stage 3, Heritage, and
held up 5 fingers, he held up 4. He motioned for me to shove it down a
gear, to 4th, well, sir this time, I really accelarated, and got him
    good.
    (afterwards)~~He hollered that is ''a bad motorcycle''.~~~~
It was exciting, and my Dearest, just loved it.

Oh yes, but the wind kills my neck, when riding without a shield.
I rode this thang', for a week around here, without a shield. But it
came in, just as we were about to ride off, the day before.
Personally, I would'nt have a faring on a Valk. that would make it look
too much like a Wing. I want mine to look like a'''cruiser'' and by
    golly it do.
I have a regular windShield, and leather like black bags, with lots
    ''studs''.
I have heard some, call a Valk, a stripped down GW, and that is about
    right.
Mine has 6 in 6, loud pipes, and that big dude sounds like a race car,
    what-a-sound. But, I am gonna order ''baffles'' @ $16 a piece. crap.

    Thanks for reading and responding.
Did you notice where I included you in the Magnificent Seven ''real''
bikers of T.M. on another threadline? Actually, I listed more than 7,
but I was thinking of that geat ''old Movie'', called Magnificent 7.
    heh-heh-
Yes, we really enjoyed the extra room in the bags, and Dear said she
thought the larger seat was nice. #Note, Sunny, if you hear form Mr.
Louie, tell himself, to git on here and brag about me having a mighty
    valk.

Yes, I noticed. Thanks for thinking of me. ;)
I don't know what constitutes being a "biker" but if it's having a
motorcycle as my main transportation, I quess I'd qualify.
I'm sure that seat beats the padded 2x4 on some bikes. ;)
I bet he already knows but I think he's a bit busy, with some of his shiny
new toys. You know how it is with these folks that are retired and have all
the time in the world, to act 13 again. <g>

    BJay,

Sounds like a nice ride. Thanks for shareing it with us. Based on your
ride report, I'm guessing that new bike of yours is turning out to be every
bit as nice as you'd hoped it would. I'm happy for you.

    Regards,

    Vic
