So, yesterday I set about stripping the back end off the SOCB350 to
examine the extent of the rust that has set into the rear subframe.

**** me it's bad. So bad that the decision has been made to chop 14"
out of it and make it a single seater.

Looks like it's gonna become a rat now.

Angle grinders are great fun. I'll find out later in the week how much
    fun welders are :)

  2. Let me know where you get your seat from, eh?

A good trawl round the internet has come up with diddly squat.

I really didn't want to have to buy a copy of BSH ;-)

I was going to make an attempt to cut down the existing seat and bodge
it. The other alternative is to make the seat from the PC50 fit :)

  4. Pretty much what I was thinking of in relation to my current cushion.
Only one snag though: the bits that hold the seat on are at the back of
the bike and with the seat cut in half as well it'll be a bungee job :-(

Your PC50's a good idea, you might get it to bend a bit for that ultra-
    cool look :)

Well, I'm(1) welding the end of the subframe back on to keep the rear
seat mountings. It's the front I'll have the fun with.
Ultra cool? You fucking joking. It's no more than a bicycle seat.

  6. Have a look at this:

Notwithstanding the rest of the bike, this is how I want the back of
mine to look and I don't know if it can be done. I hope it can because
IMHO, it looks fooking ace; pretty much how I imagined yours with the
    PC50 seat.

To make sure that it sits right.
    Pip's your man.

My intention is to mount some kind of a rack behind the seat to
    accommodate a top box.

  8. I don't get it. Why cut the back off if you want to weld it back on
again. To cut out the bad bit and put a good bit in in it's place?

How about welding/gluing some nuts or tubes of metal so they both marry
up into a kind of slider/kitchen drawer type arrangement?
Yyip. I can't wait. I've heard good things about this welder and wielder
    of angle grinders :)
Cool. I can't wait to see it.
