Guess it's the Honda thing. Might have to try test rides on both.... }:8)

really? That seems a better deal than the prices I'm seeing on autortrader
    etc. (that's with the 10% modifier, TOG.... };8) )

  5. I think you and I have the knowledge to look at the description, and
especially the pix, and draw the right conclusions.

I have seen some stuff on Ebay, though, that was a sure-fire trap for
    the unwary.

I don't think it's any worse in this respect than a private sale in
    general though.

I've bought cars and bikes privately and from garages (only ever bought
one new vehicle in (almost) 24 years of motoring...). On reflection I'd
rather buy privately since if you're buying stuff more than three years
old (and a cheapskate) you're probably dealing with (potentially) the
worst sort of dealer who has more knowledge than you and doesn't give a
****. When I've had problems and have tried to address them a garage has
basically said "we've got your money now **** off, you can't prove a
    thing" and they were right.

So, unless I'm buying something pretty new or something in short supply
I'll stick with private sales and when doing this I think I'd rather use
ebay (until it all gets too expensive).

    A Blade, R1, GSXR750. All fall into the 3.5K category. I wouldn't say no
    to any of them.

Don't listen to him... you want a GSX-R.

I bought it for £3500 in the summer with 4000 miles on the clock.
So it should be a breeze. I was told to get the 98 w as the first injected
    ones 99 and 00
    were shit.

I loved mine, but found my calling in getting dirty on the weekend.
My next road/track bike will be another blade.

Temporarily at least. I'll pick something up come spring.
Oh. Where are you based these days? I'll bring my VTG300 to you if it
helps - I can fire NTSC or PAL composite or S Video down your cable to
    assist with fault finding.

No, no, no. You're supposed to write an eccentric and apoplectic Ebay
listing describing it as the biggest pile of shit on the planet and
insulting every bidder as a half arsed fuckwit who clearly can't read.

Therein lays the path to maximum profit and celebrity.
