It's probably to help with growing things up the trellis.
    Anyway, I like it.

Hypermoto. Rather have a KTM950SM. Or, now they will actually be
available soon a 'Street Scrambler' (preferably with the Charade 120BHP
    motor).

    Ducati Hypermotard 1100S

"The 1100 S is the ultimate in extreme performance. The 'S' takes
Hypermotard thrills to an even higher level using Marzocchi 50mm
forks with trick, low friction, Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating on the
sliders and a race-spec Öhlins fully adjustable shock at the rear
for fantastic road holding. The Incredible stopping force of Brembo
Monobloc calipers and lightweight machine finished forged-aluminium
wheels complete the awesome chassis set-up, while carbon fibre
fork protectors, timing belt covers and fenders front and rear
    show-off its 'S' status"

    1078cc 2v Desmo engine
    95hp @ 7750rpm
    102.9Nm @ 4750rpm
    180Kg dry weight

Hmm that's where it's let down.. if it had the same engine as the 999
    it'd be a better proposition.

Cost vs Weight vs Servicing vs Power

A 999 engine would increase the cost of the engine
    by 30-40% imho.

It would also increase the weight as it would be
water-cooled and require all the related ancillaries.
The current 1100 HM just has an oil cooler and
    thats it.

The servicing would be more complex, and more
expensive, as it would be a 4v engine rather than
    a 2v engine.

The 999 engines are now around 160bhp which,
while it would be much fun, would be a little bit
of overkill. The "just under" 100bhp from the 1100
2v is plenty enough to have fun on the road, as
I found out with some rear wheel sliding on the
wet roads while out on the 748 this morning...

  11. In uk.rec.motorcycles, antonye belched forth and ejected the following:
I hope it looks better in the flesh.

    It looks horrible.
This one's marginally better but not by a lot.
    Have you?
    Hmm...

If you can hang on for a year, I know EXACTLY where one of the SuperMoto's
will be for sale with less than 500 miles on the clock and that's if he gets
    it "as soon as".

I got my Zed off this bloke with 441 miles on it (and I'd done more than 40
of 'em) when he decided he must have a KTM SuperDuke. That was sold this
year with around 700 miles on the clock when he decided he MUST have a
Ducati SuperMoto. On those two bikes alone, he took a financial hit
totalling 6 grand. Cheap transport are these motorbikey things.
