  1. And make sure the bike is level and not on the side stand.

I`ll have to disagree with you there. Blueyonder IPs are quite area
specific. With the DNS entries giving away the area and local UBR the
customer is connected to. They may not be exactly geographically correct,
but they will be in the general area, closer still in larger cabled areas.

I see you`re quite close to him too.)

nslookup some BY IPs and you`ll see what I mean.

Thanks for those tips. The snag is the bike doesn't have a centre
stand, and the guy who was selling me one on Ebay has sent a
headlight shroud??? I presume he just got mixed up rather than
ripping me off, but it's a flipping nuisance none the less.

Nev Arthur was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Don't forget to advance yourself half the money and then do a runner.

IME it's best to tell them fuckers to **** off and go stuff their points
    up their arse. Social inadequates.

Ours is about the company left now, where they're not too bad at
all. The big difference is they can actually all do the job, and
do so on an occasional basis. Some of the suburban TOCs, jeez,
    I've heard fuckin' nightmares!
Apologies for driftin' OT into railway talk.

If he sorts it out in the end, I might just give him neutral
feedback, rather than neg, otherwise there will be no incentive
for him and others to sort out problems, but it is dam annoying,
and if I don't have a centre stand a couple of weeks from now,
there will be a bit of flak flying around.

  17. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "CHRIS GRIFFITHS"
You're getting there. Compliance and a lame insult; not great, but not
    too bad.

Block of wood/breeze block/stack of bricks on one side of the bike
(opposite to side stand is preferred) then use a trolley jack to lift the
    bike
level, balanced between jack and block.

    Dave
who also lacks centre stand/paddock stand.

Not a bad idea. I certainly wouldn't have thought of it on my
own, no lateral thought processing power.

    Nev Arthur says...
Was a pretty easy job in the end, managed to not **** it up. I
know what you mean about the oil level, I found it definitely
needed another 100 or so ml before I could call the job complete.
I've run the bike about 60 miles or so since, and although I
wouldn't yet claim the clutchslip to be cured, I'm hoping it's
not my imagination that the slipping does not feel so bad.
    Thanks for the advice.
