In uk.rec.motorcycles, ginge amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
I've come to the conclusion I don't want to learn roads. When I know a road I stop reading for hazards half as well. Plus it's more exciting not knowing what comes next.
I was a jibbering idiot at the end; about 6 miles of s-bends followed by a half mile straight followed by s-bends. The only problem was that it was so flat and barren that there were no reference points as to where the bends were or indeed how tight they were. I'm confident that I could go more or less flat out for at least half of the 6 miles but I'd need to know the road to do it properly. As for hazards, it's a 6 mile road with no other roads coming into or out of it, no road furniture and precious little in the way of other traffic. Really, it was a blast, that new bike of mine is quite possibly the fastest and most definately the scariest thing I've ever ridden. Laugh? I've not had so much fun in years!
