Dealer advice

    Last Friday I set off on the bike to get my tyre plugged,
    and due to the battery also needing replacing,
    only made it as far as London Colney,
    where fortunately Motorcycles and Moore is.
    A new tyre and battery and the urge not to sell the bike again.

    A week later I decide to visit Colin Collins in Watford,
    my original planned destination the previous week,
    to see how much they'll offer me for the bike.

    While checking it over I notice the plug is on the other side of the tread,
    and sure enough the tyre's on the wrong way round.

    Colin Collins advise it's not a good idea to be riding with it back to
    front,
    so I head back to M&M on my way home, but their mechanic's over at CC buying
    some parts.
    M&M chap suggests the standard Dunlop tyre I have is fine either way,
    he's raced them one way during the first session and then swapped them round
    for even wear.
    He invites me to return Saturday morning to get it put facing the correct
    direction.

    So off I go, but taking it easy just in case.
    As I still had some time left drop into Thompsons to see what they'll do
    part-ex,
    I'm thinking of getting a Vespa until finances and garage accommodation
    improve.
    Thompsons also suggested it's not great to be riding with a tyre's tread
    heading backwards.
    Chap was surprised as he's said M&M have a good reputation.

    I'm just glad I'm not still commuting to London every day especially in the
    weather we've just had.

  5. I had one put on my trumpet the wrong way round and didnt notice til
    someone pointed it out. This was 3K miles since I had it fitted and I
    was in France at the time.

    TOGs advice at the time was it would be fine as long as you didnt
    hammer it.

    I'd give the dealer shit for not doing it there and then though.

    I put the front wheel on backwards on the 6R, felt a bit vague on wet roads.
    Otherwise it was fine, even when pushing.
