Received an email from you headed "Re.Delivery Protection" with an attached
application file of 41kb at 01.41 this morning.
Needless to say I didn`t open it.

Any reason? or is someone using your address?

Can't see *why* anyone would have that email address; deadmail- dead
mail. i.e. it doesn't get read, just directed to a dormant account.

Because when you reply to news in OE, it adds the author's e-mail address to
your contacts list. This list is then used by said viruses to harvest
    e-mail addresses to infect/send from.

Good Lord, does it? What an absolutely terrible thing for the software
    to do.

Hmm... I've only once used OE (on a lap top once when away from home and
*very* bored). I don't *think* it did this.

Maybe it doesn't anymore (maybe they realised the error of their ways), but
I have loads of addresses in my OE contacts list that I only recognise from
newsgroup postings, and have certainly never sent e-mail.

It's an option, tick the relevant box and it does it. Auto-complete is
    also an option.
