The lucky ones get the hour back tonight with interest. We all get to sleep
in tomorrow, cept for Clem. He'll be up at the same EARLY time.

I'm with Clem on this one now. I lost 6 hrs sleep last night because of
daylight savings. On the plus side out of all the people I was working
with last night, I'm the only one who gets paid for an hour that didn't
exist, and I get paid for it twice.

I'm a fan of Daylights savings today.
Today Spain started DST so tonight's GP telecast should conclude by 11-ish
instead of midnight (on a school night).

You still go to school? If you moved a little West you could have finished
watching the GP at 8:45, as I did.

Umm, please explain. If you worked from midnight Saturday to 8:00 am Sunday
you would have worked nine hours because one hour, the one between 1am and 2
am, existed twice. Is it me that is confused or you?

As I remember it, when they tried it here, I had to work another hour on
night shift when it started, making it a 15 hour shift but we only got
paid for 14. The platoon that was on when it finished only worked 13
hours but got paid for 14.

I assumed Nev was on double time when it finished.

Hmmm. Last night I turned my clocks back an hour which means there was an
extra hour before the alarm went off at 6 am. That would have made the
    nightshift an hour longer.

Theo's correct as it's the other way around. You work an hour less at the
    start of DST
and an hour more at the end.

Well, it *was* a long time ago. Swap "started" and "finished" in the
    anecdote above...

Bingo. There are some things only shift workers will understand.

What how many hours there are between 12 and three at the end of DST?
Neither of you appeared to understand that. Doug recanted since then.

I've just gone along with the opinions expressed. Truth is I can't be
bothered working out which is which...

Fairynuff. It does go to show that even the people who have been living with
DST for years get confused. Though I find it hard to believe Nev doesn't
know how many hours he worked and got paid for on Sunday night.

You wouldn't believe how many of our staff regularly ask me how many holiday
or sick days they have accumulated. It's printed on their pay advice slips
    every week.

  20. They're probably just checking for clerical errors - or conscious that
they've worked an extra 3 days since their payslip was printed, so want
to make sure they've got the minutes EXACTLY right.
