And once the motorway's opened, they'll be even better due to much
    lower traffic levels, I suspect.

Granted. Among my favourite intellectual fillums are Contact, The
Matrix, 12 Monkeys and Fight Club.

Rent it by all means. It's a good adventure in a Doug McClure kind of
stylee but the 'science' aspect is verging on ridiculous.
    "Unobtainium" ffs...
It's OK up to the soldiers encampment. That was way over the top. The
rest was bleak, spooky and tense. That was just...nauseating.

I watched Donnie Darko the other night. Now that was an ODD film!

Can't you read? It was the will of the people and the righteousness of
the American Way that held it up.

I wouldn't take my word for it though. I've just got the update for
the America's Army game that now shows you the soldiers creed every
time you connect to a server/play the game/stop playing the game/do
    something else.

It's nauseating and funny at the same time. I couldn't help thinking
of FMJ, "This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine."

I'd rather she took it back about 28 Days Later, which is far better
than Dawn of the Dead. DotD should've ended 5 minutes earlier instead
of that "oh, we've run out of time but still have half an hour of story
to squeeze in" bit. I did like the choice of music and its placement
    throughout the film though.

28 Days had that "Christ, is that the time? We'd better finish" feel
    about the end.

Top film though. Actually anything with Christopher Ecclestone being
    scary scores in my book.

I saw that last week, the one with the alternative ending after the
credits. A silly, yet very enjoyable film, and I normally don't go for
    the whole horror movie thing.

It's still nowhere near as entertaining as that homage to 80's culture,
zombies, post-apocalyptic teenage angst, and chicks with machine guns
that is: Night of the comet.

Is there a current PDA of choice? I was playing with an Ipaq at the
    weekend and quite fancy one.

It'd be nice if it had bluetooth and gps built in though.

Porl left a note on my windscreen which said:
Shame really. Knocking it down and sending the message, "You're all
really fucked." would make it a better film. Seriously.

I noticed you had one when I googled for the last pda thread. Is there
anything you don't like about your ipaq that might be solved on a newer
    model?

What's the difference between the different models (say a 2xxx and
5xxx)? I know they've got slightly different specs (memory seems to be
the main thing) but where can I find out what that means in terms of
    functionality?

I'm new to all this CF and SD - what's the difference between them,
    apart from price?

The one I had a go on was easier to use than I thought, and I found the
handwriting input was quick and accurate. I don't know what model it
was though. The Dell pda seems a fair whack cheaper, but I've not
    played with one of those.

That's sort of the point, though - without Dennis' character, there'd
not have been anything to watch...

Without Dennis' character, she would have had to diddle on her own.

    Me, I could watch either.

It hangs if left one for more than 3 days. But it's got a version of
Windows on it so that's not wholly unsurprising. It's no great hassle
to reboot it, the startup is only around 10 seconds. Other than that,
nope, it does Word, Excel, Outlook, IE, all compatible with the
desktop versions. It syncs contacts, email etc perfectly with desktop
Outlook as you would expect. Connects to the interweb fine either via
Bluetooth and the mobile or via Bluetooth and a wired connection
    through a computer.
Power mostly and memory. They all run Windows Mobile 2003 (Second
Edition now) so all do the same stuff. Mine has 64 meg of memory
that's shared between storage and running programs and you can choose
how much gets what. I can put any capacity CF or SD card in it though
to boost the storage space. It's even got Window Media player 9 so I
could theoretically watch ripped of dvds on it.

I do know a lot come with both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi now. Best to get
    one with both.

Weight is also a factor. Mine weighs bugger all and I believe is the
lightest and smallest Windows Mobile 2003 device you can get.
SD is smaller. CF is cheaper for memory. Both can do other devices
such as Wi-Fi, GPS etc. My plan is to put in a Wi-Fi CF card and a
512mb SD card when I have a little spare cash.
The handwriting is good once you get into the habit of printing
characters. There is a also a mode where you can write in shortcuts,
like a single stroke up the screen gives you an 'i' or a stroke across
and then down give you a 't'. Makes it a lot quicker.
It's cos they're slightly bigger and heavier than the HP ones. Loads
of people make WM2003 devices. Best bet is to go somewhere like John
Lewis and have a play with loads of them, given the OS is the same on
all, it's just touch-feely you want to be comfortable with. Being
utterly biased I think the HP ones are the nicest.

No, this was me scrawling in joined up across the screen handwriting.
It got it all right straight off, which I thought was quite an
acheivement for my natural font of "Doctor's Signature".
Cheers ben - I think I'll do just that.
