Went Wembley Arena to see Mr Bowie last night. It was very, very
good. I bought some tickets off eBay when I discovered that he was
playing the big hits from the 70s - it was worth the 50 quid just to
hear Life on Mars live. Let alone All the Young Dudes, Five Years,
Ziggy Stardust, Fame, Heroes, Rebel Rebel, China Girl, The Man Who
Sold the World, Ashes to Ashes....

Well, that's another ambition achieved. Can't think of any other
"big" bands that I'm bothered about seeing live.

I saw him play Stade De L'Ouest in Nice 17/7/87. I remember him being
OK, but the lead guitarist was Peter Frampton and he was a twiddling
    idiot.

Adrian Belew was the best Bowie session man.

The Bowie guitarist I'd be bothered about seeing would be Mick Ronson,
and he's been dead 10 years.

can't stand the bloke myself. Our old child minder was the Bowie bloke on
Stars in teir eyes. I though he was quite good but I didn't like the music.

Did you see a chap looking like Ronnie Corbett's dad there?

That can't be right - he's my hero! He was very kind to me when I
    first ventured onto usenet.
That desc covers a fair proportion of the audience. People under the
age of 30 were rather conspicuous by their absence

Cos he was impressed by your JOG-LE record... His longest fastest run

It's a sudden thing isn't it? You are going to gigs and suddenly
realise that you no longer reduce the average age by your presence.

There was an article on Peter Frampton this weekend in the paper - he
made a *fortune* from Frampton Comes Alive. I forget the exact wording,
but it suggested that he is one of the most successful British musicians
(or did I misread that?). And all I can remember of PF is

#I want you-ooo, to show me the way

  16. When Dave Jones lived with his parents, at one time their back garden
backed on to my girlfriends garden (now known as the EX) across a rear
driveway to garages at the end of the gardens. Repairing my TVR in their
garage, head under bonnet arse in the air I was often interrupted by
Dave leering at me through the garage door. Twas quite unsettling.
I saw him at some of his first gigs at the Black Horse (?) in Widmore
road on the way to Bickley.
He used to live near to the girlfriends mother's mother in Brixton
    before they moved to Bromley.

I have a mate who's *seriously* into hardcore metal. He's very well
connected in music circles (lines with Eminem's agent, allegedly).

I took him to Ronnie Scott's on Thursday to see Claire Martin. He was
blown away, and hasn't stopped telling anyone who'll listen.
