"David's organs were donated, and Annette has recently received a
letter from one of the recipients. Said Annette: "The gentleman, Mark,
had acute kidney failure. He was on haemodialysis 24 hours a week and
his health was deteriorating; his quality of life was poor and his wife
was a full-time nurse to him. His words in the letter are that now his
'quality of life is fantastic' and he has just returned back to work.
    That truly is remarkable.""

    I'll sign that.

But do make sure you tell your family about it and they understand how
important donating your organs is. IIRC they can't have them without
your NoK's consent, even if you've signed everything over.

From what I remember, which given the day I've had may not be quite
accurate or up to date, they can take whatever you have given consent
for on the donor card/register. However, they don't do it without
consent. I've not been involved with relatives so soon after the death
    - they're well past transplant time before they reach me.

Again going on what could be a dodgy memory, ISTR that you have no
right to refuse a postmortem on your own body. At the time of your
death your body becomes the property of the next of kin and it is their
decision[1]. If I've remembered both of these bit correctly that's a
rather odd disparity. So one of them is probably wrong.

[1] Unless it's a coroners pm. Then it can be done irrespective of the
wishes of the deceased or relatives.

There's no right of property, but there is a right of possession:

Oh yes. That's the word I was after. Been a long day.
    <shudder>
I'd hoped never to see any of that again. I spent countless hours
    reading that, and related articles.

After I made, what I considered to be, a humorous remark[1] the
berevemt officer told me I wasn't allowed to meet with relatives of the
    deceased anymore

[1] Not to a relative, said amongst my colleagues (who also found it
    amusing)

"Organ retention" they can retain it up their fucking arses.

    You? In any way insensitive?

    I will not believe it.

You may call me as a character witness.

I was just flicking through the Final Report Summary. I think the writing
style could fairly be described as "trashy".
    Sounds like a good move.
"Organ retention" sounds like something involving tiny padlocks through the
    frenum...

You say that now, but how are you at canasta?
That's not really retention though, more adornment.

Indeed. And it seems somehow fitting that a Ducati nut should be broken

Pathetic, isn't it? A boss of mine (merkin, of course) usaed it to me
a few years back and refused to believe me when, after having it
explained and looking it up, I said that 99.9% on non-americans
wouldn't have a fucking clue what he was talking about.

Mind you, that was true even when he wasn't using stupid made-up
    wordygigs.
