Datatool series 2 alarm telltale LED is very faint,
I thought it was not working at all but in the dark its there flashing JUST.
That after replacing the LED itself.

Voltage getting up there but no current.
Full 11+ volts open circuit but voltage drops away
    if LED in circuit.

The unit is tucked away in the tail section of a BMW K1100RS.
and a fag to get out although on a single big plug.

    Any BRIGHT ideas?

    K1100RS?

  3. You've got a bad connection there somewhere, acting as a FOAD
resistance. A multimeter draws ****-all current so it'll look like there's
full voltage. You need to trace back looking for the bad wire. Probably
best either to use an ohmmeter to check the leads or simply bridge any
suspect connexion with a length of good wire.
