Datatool Evo query.

I'm really sorry to make an 'On-Topic' post but.

The 9R has a Datatool Evo fitted, which for insurance purposes has to
stay, unfortunately. Everything alarm/immobiliser works fine, it arms,
disarms and functions/goes off exactly as it should, when it should.

However, when the alarm is in the armed mode the LED light flashes, but
not every second as it ought to, according to the online instruction
booklet. It flashes twice, three or four times with a longish break
between bursts of flashes. There's no rhyme or reason to the amount of
flashes it makes in any particular burst. When arming it flashes
continously for a few seconds and stops, just as it ought to.

What I would like to know is whether or not this is normal behaviour, or
is something amiss. The online Datatool instructions and troubleshooting
pages don't give me any clues, just wondered if anyone had experienced
this problem before and if it is a fault or just an odd thing with just
    my system.

It doesn't sound normal - neither of mine do that.

    Lozzo says...
Mine doesn't seem to flash except when the alarm is going off.
Still, only the LHS indicators flash when the alarm is sounding so
    I'm not surprised.

  5. Just stick some gaffer tape over the LED.
Or just leave it fitted but disconnected. Useless fucking things that
    they are.

When I bought my Ace the Evo alarm sounded spuriously. Took it to
    Protec's bloke Kevin
and he opened the black box, pointed at some crud on the back of the PCB
which we cleaned off and all is ok.
Email me for his mobile number - he is in Stondon Massey near Brentwood
or does call outs for (I think) a minimum of £30

Nice choice of words. When my datatool on the SV messed up it took 3
replacement PCBs to fix it. Apparently the first two replacements were
    wonky. Fancy that.

    Hi Loz.

Had one of these on my original Ace and then on the FJR. Both times
they flashed steady at the book intervals. If there's a warranty on
the alarm (I *think* it's 3 years) then call Datatool asap as it's
possible the alarm circuit board is on the way out. Change it now
BEFORE it quits on ya while you're doing, ooer mph.

If there's no warranty then either fork out the cost of a replacement
board or change insurance to a company that will allow no alarm. It's
only a slight premium rise compared to the cost of the board, but hey,
you'll have to do your own math! :)

My insurance allows for no alarm and was taken out through motorcycle
    direct.

    HTH.
