I have bought a used Bandit that is Datatagged and have received a Datatag
form to register myself as the new keeper included is information about
    adding Datadots.

Being a bit of a newbie bike owner I was just wanting a few opinions as to
whether it is worthwhile, i.e.. is Datatagging that much of a theft
deterrent and is it worth doing the Datadots.

    TIA, David

Waste of time, IMHO. My CBR was tagged but it still got nicked and I
never saw hide nor hairof it again :-(

That said, if it's already tagged, it can't hurt to register the tag
    in your name.

If someone wants to nick it they will anyway but having a datatag

Suppose your right they want a £21 including Datadot kit, not bad really.

Why do you need to add dots if it is tagged already? Should be about
a tenner just to reregister the tag.

Just make sure you actually register it in your name or the insurers will
use it to wriggle out of paying you in the event of a theft.

    "David Thomas"
Chocolate fireguard IMHO. You think the theiving pikies are going to stop
and have a look with a magnifying glass before they nick it?

It has the etched codes all over the bike plus 5 transponders, but they now
    offer the microdots as well.

    Probably not needed really.

They offered me dots as well. Not needed mate, if some thieving scum
pikey git wants your bike he'll take it. It cost me £12 to get the
details transferred over to my Bandit. How much is your insurance
    premium?

I can say with a certain degree of confidence that you'll get more back
in insurance savings than what the £12 cost.

I was under the impression that Datatagged bikes had a better record for
not being stolen.. Something about professional thieves not being
interested in them. Obviously pikey scrote doesn't give a toss.

You should use the copywright datatag symbol when you use one of their
    marketing phrases...

    Which one was that?

"Defeats the signs of professional thieves with added active pikey
scrote" or "clinically proven to deter elephants"?

    Probably the latter.

    Really? Geez.

Did you get them to pay in the end, or still fighting?
