"this one goes up to 11".
    no, sure - I agree - I've got a fairly accurate mental hash-table for
FtoC conversion, but - hey! - I was just trying to be helpful in
general. It can do all sorts of converstions, including some fanciful
ones, for instance letting me know that my bike is capable of just
    under 500,000 furlongs per fortnight.

Because it's a bigger number with more digits and F comes after C and... oh
I don't fucking know, just does ok.

it's nuts, you know - it's *really* too hot for full leathers, or even
just a leather jacket at the moment.

Last time I rode my bike, the weekend before last, was to ride it
round to the filling station to use the jetwash. I wore shorts,
    sandals, lid and gloves.

I'll give you one thing, it hurts to up-shift in sandals.

I fear doing more than 60mph down Moorgate and London Wall might
attract unwanted attention from the filth.

I rode in this morning in full black leathers. I was a tad warm, I admit.
But I don't want to filter for 12 miles in shorts and sandals. I'd rather
    sweat.

Nice emptyish french coastal roads, or bimbles down to the corner shop are a
    different matter though.

No it isn't, you numpty. That's what you get when you take the
approximate body temp in celcius, 37, and convert to fahrenheit.

it'll be worse on the way home this evening, I reckon.
no, sure - that attire is definitely for short journeys. But if I'd
come in on the bike today, it'd have been work trousers/shoes, and a
paddock jacket (and lid and gloves). I can't be arsed having a shower
when I get to work, and don't want to sit around all day all sweaty
    and smelly.
yup - distinctly remember a lovely journey along the coast road from
    St.Tropez to St.Raphael in just shorts/lid/gloves/sandals.

Good point really, I went out last night for a 30mph potter round town to
the seafront and put full leathers on because I have got so used to doing
so... feel[1] less vulnerable I suppose.

But, having said that, I would have probably felt fine and cooler in a pair
of jeans and a partly open leather jacket to let some air in.

[1] false sense of security maybe?

I'd say a zipped-up armoured paddock jacket would be better than an
    un-zipped leather jacket.

Sure - I rode in at a mere 40ish down the Embankment, though, at 10am, and I
wasn't remotely troubled by the heat. My jacket is cunningly perforated,
    though

  13. Um.. different people have different core body temperatures..
my mum and I both have core temperatures around 97.5. Whereas my dads
    is around 98.7..

I'm not really talking about being troubled by heat on the bike; more
being a sweaty bastard around the office.

FFS the septic Fahrenheit is different to our Fahrenheit? The wankers
can't even cope with a proper gallon.

I have a manky old Belstaff for days like today.

Jeans, boots [1], O/F lid, manky Belstaff and gloves if I can find them.

Desert boots or Docs, depends what I'm wearing at the time.

how can you not find your gloves - don't you keep them in your lid?

Not always. Particularly when I can't find them, usually when they're
    not in my lid. IYSWIM.

yeah, yeah, but what I mean is, why don't you just always put them in
your lid when you take lid/gloves off?
