See now, I have no problem with that viewpoint. I also ride what I ride because I want to. I even like Harleys, I just refuse to pay that much cash for a bike that continues to stay behind the technology curve, way behind. There is no argument for anyone that loves their bike simply because they do. --Fullstate Me and Mah 'Priller!
I don't have a problem with people liking their rides, but when it comes to the "when I sell mine, I'll get more than you" argument, it gets too far gone to ignore. Simple math will tell you that if you buy a Harley for $20,000 and sell it two years later for $15,000 you just lost $5000. If you buy a Honda for $7000 and sell it two years later for $5000, you only lost $2000. It seems to me that you could almost buy a Honda for the price you'll lose on the Harley. There's no doubt that Waco got a good deal, and I'm not "dissing" his bike at all. I'm not EVEN going to present myself that I'm "defending" texdays on anything. Now, all that said, when I cart mine off to the landfill...needless to say I'll have gotten my money's worth from it.
No,you don't LOSE 5000, it merely cost you $2500 a year to ride on something you enyoy. No,you don't LOSE 2000, it merely cost you $1000 a year to ride on something you enyoy. Each is own. Either way, see above. You're not losing unless you just buy it and park it. -- gburnore@databasix dot com --------------------------------------------------------------------------- How you look depends on where you go. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary L. Yeah, he got a smoking deal on a real nice bike. I can't say I have ever heard of any other motorcycle company doing the same. --Fullstate Me and Mah 'Priller!
Hey.. Trash.. tell it like it is.. you got a yard full of junk.. Get that ten gallon gas tank on that Valkyrie yet ? BTW.. don't send me any more of your trashy e-mails.. you learned better than that last time, I think.. Waco isn't trying to sell you a decent bike..
True, all that. The service plan was a big reason why I bought the bike. It was never meant to be an investment. I'll never sell it. But....I wish I could have bought 2 Harleys last year with that same service plan.
I had this strange mental visual of you trying to straddle TWO Harleys at one time whilest going down the highway and mooning people. LMAO! In any case, I noticed last night that the NHTSA issued a recall on HD FL Series. Affects years 2001 ~ 2003. Recall #04V134 Problem: On certain FL touring and police motorcycles, the 40-amp main circuit breaker can "open" for reasons other than those for which it was designed, causing an unexpected interruption of all electrical power. This condition could cause the motorcycle to stall. I seem to recall that your bike had a similar electrical anomaly. I couldn't, however, remember if you got it fixed or what model your bike is. I thought you would want to know, just in case. --Fullstate Me and Mah 'Priller!
I guess I owe you an apology, Waco.. My original post was intended merely to appreciate you guys dropping by and visit.. Seems to have been taken as an excuse for a lot of the posters on here to take cheap shots .. Our friendship means more than that and I am sorry if any of these comments have offended you or Peter in any way.. Please consider that most of the comments are coming from unqualified individuals who have no concept nor can even imagine the value of friendship and brotherhood .. Most of the comments seen on this thread that I started are well meaning .. The others insignificant.. That being said, I again apologize .. Your friend in Irving Bill Walker
With all due respect and absolutely no "animosity" Mike.. your suggestion is well meant and well taken.. Now .. I am compelled to ask, if you have made that same request to others on this group who are more apt to use it as a conduit for their own social snippets with their small circles ?? FYI . the post that you refer to is a discreet message to several on this group.. Even though it was addressing a friend of mine, it should convery that message to the ones who it was intended.. Too bad that you were offended by it, as it certainly wasn't intended toward you.. ah well.. Strangely .. you only seem object to "my" offerings when there are several more and better examples of this occurence, this week.. Shall we form an alliance at this point to discourage furthur postings like this ?? Thanks for the input.. and advice.. Bill Walker Irving, Tx.
Perhaps you were commenting on the person I was replying to. Your TMV remarks have nothing to do with my observation that he hadn't changed oil or anything in 40k miles. There's ALWAYS a cost associated with ownership of a vehicle. You appear to disagree with that statement while supporting it.
Now .. Now girls.. "Group Hug".. As usual.. your eagerness to show us all how knowledgeable you are.. NOT.. you have made some kind of ass of yourself ...again.. Both of you.. Neither of you can lay claim to owning, riding or even being associated with a motorcycle as clean (usually) well maintained and in the same class as the motorcycle that Waco is so proud of.. It is a superb machine that screams of quality.. Texdays is a "junker" who has accumulated enough junk to stock a junkyard.. If he likes his ride .. fine.. ride the junk and keep his mouth shut about someone else's ride.. Mark Johnson has always rode some kind of old ragged out motorcycle that only has value to him.. That's fine also.. if that is his ride and he likes it.. keep his mouth shut about someone else's ride.. Neither one of you two are any examples of motorcycle savvy that will impress anyone but yourselves or your fellow EOB sissies.. ROTFLMAO..
I thought you picked up on the fact that he HAS done oil and tire changes, but he hasn't had to pay for it. His maintenance / warranty that came with the bike includes wear-able parts plus maintenance for as long as he owns it (or as long as the dealership is there). Pretty darned incredible when you get down to it. So, yes, he has changes oil, tires, whatever....but it hasn't cost him any extra $$$ to do so. --Fullstate Me and Mah 'Priller!
I've always heard that people who ride hardlys are trying to compensate for another shortcoming...I guess thats why you usually find some ugly fat chick (like bill clinton would do) on the back of a Hardly.
What's the matter? Some Harley rider got your mom knocked up again? You should introduce the concept of condoms to her or ask her to get out of the whoring business altogether.
You are a relentless little prick, aren't you ?? Which institurion did you break out of. ?? LOL Are you sure you'd know what to do with a chick.. ugly or otherwise ?? You are truly a funny little twit.. Waco Glen would eat your stupid lunch... nitwit.. Now .. that's one big dude.. LMAO.. I'm not very big .. though..
His mother doesn't even know that he is using her computer.. Waco.. She is not responsible for this little nitwit carrying on like this while she is making a living for him... Leave her out of it.. Actually the little shit can't help himself.. He is a moron..
LOL.. I think it would be courteous to make your suggestion to the other "offenders" on this group.. Mike.. Go ahead.. since you were so courteous to me, I'm sure they'd appreciate the same.. Don't want to leave anyone out.. Anyway that I can help.. let me know.. OK.. Hmmm.. maybe you could consider using the same medium to notify those "others" of their infractions to your sensibilities.. I certainly am not anonymous and have a valid e-mail address.. Just a suggestion, Mike.. like I said.. if I can help, please let me know..
Nope. I didn't see those posts. I was out riding over the weekend and must have missed them. The original quip I made was a jab in the ribs at the way he worded his claim. His services cost him something even if it's just time without the bike. Ownership of any vehicle costs something. Clearly in his case, the extra was paid up front as part of his original contract. Nice deal, but TANSTAAFL.
