    Not the way I went!

St Neots, somewhere in Beds for tea with the pixies, then MK,
Buckingham, Aylesbury [1], Thame, Oxford then west to Bibury.

[1] the 2nd time in 10 days I've ridden the A413 there, after not
doing it for years. It really is a great road.

Actually, it was dry and pleasant almost all the way, with just a bit
of dampness on the road in the last 20 miles or so.

And what a machine. My first go on one was around 99/2000 when they
came out, and I was amazed that something that big could steer so
well. Despite owning several somewhat sporting machines since then,
the 'busa still steers and handles better than it has any right to.

And the engine. Oh the engine. Unlike the 10R, which lets you know
you're dealing with a psychopath on amphetamines as soon as you let
the clutch out, the 'buse feels slightly flat for the first 30~40 yds,
but then gathers pace. And keeps gathering it. And just keeps on
keeping on. Within 5 minutes of collecting it, I'd clocked a higher
speed than I've ever managed before [1]. The needle just swept thru
    120 130 140 150 160 170 180 about as quickly as it's taken me to type
that. For the rest of the afternoon I mostly left it in top gear and
revelled in the huge waves of torque that the engine can deliver.
Lord knows why Suzuki fitted it with a six-speed gearbox - it could
manage with a 3-speed Sturmey Archer on the handlebars.

In short, I'm jolly pleased with it. Wonder if the gf will be equally
    impressed...

heh. She didn't like the ZZR14 as much when sat in the shop.

She's "quite enjoyed" her weekend of motorcycling.

    It is.

I'm not smart enough to figure out what women really mean.

It doesn't quite seem to be in accord with what she was saying on
    Sunday morning in the carpark[1]
They don't "mean" anything - to paraphrase Heidegger we have to de\l
with them on a phenomenological level "in the context of equipment".

[1] the whole "I really really don't want to get back on that bike"
    bit, for example.

All I can suggest is knocking the carbs slightly out of balance so the
engine runs a bit lumpier. Or trading it in for a Harley - I got the
impression she'd like that, even if Champ wouldn't (yet).

I meant to type "deal", not - bizarrely - "de\l".

    Does that help?

    <fx: thinks>

    as it's you, probably not.

see the paragraph in the first review talking about a fork? Substitute
    "woman" for "fork". Sort of.
