It's quicker and keener than I knew. Not had the bike for a week yet and a NIP has landed. What's the chance of a speed awareness course c/o Lancs constabulary, do they offer them to bikers? -- R100RT Aprilia Pegaso 650 IE "The Flying Mythos" Formerly: James Captain, A10, C15, B25, Dnepr M16 solo, R80/7, R100RT (green!) www.davidhowardjeweller.co.uk

Bookmarked, thanks. No point in avoiding culpability, just hoping for a speed awareness course to maintain my cleanish (6 years clean) licence. -- R100RT Aprilia Pegaso 650 IE "The Flying Mythos" Formerly: James Captain, A10, C15, B25, Dnepr M16 solo, R80/7, R100RT (green!) www.davidhowardjeweller.co.uk
Bad luck, old chap. On a similar note, does anyone know how keen the 'new generation' speed cameras (the small-ish one mounted on very high poles) are? I got flashed on the Cromwell Road on Thursday. Do they always have film in? Will it have been able to read my small and dirty numberplate?
They are fucking good quality too. I know, i got one & asked for a picture thinking i would get some shitty print. Like ****, you could see everything. -- Nige, Honda VTR1000 SOLD! BMW K1200S Range Rover Vogue Aprilia RSV Mille
As mentioned, they're digital so they never need servicing, hence why they can be put on such high poles. The NIP can be in the post before you've even made it home. They're made by a firm called Redspeed. There are shitloads of them around now and it's a right PITA because my brain hasn't yet trained itself to pattern-match them. Traditional gatsos I can spot automatically but I have to keep them peeled for the new ones.
This is all bad news. Well, I haven't ridden in London for ages, and was a bit taken aback by just how many speed cameras there are their now. I came in from a north-ish direction on Weds, and (I think) spotted all the new-style cameras, but then I didn't really know where I was going, so was looking out for everything. On Thurs, on the way home, I know the way out west on the Cromwell road really well (just past my alma mater, in fact), so was somehow paying less attention. If it's got me, I suspect the speed could put me in "oh shit" territory.
First place I saw them was Bristol about five years ago. Until the 24th of August, every moment of every journey I do by car or bike is "oh shit" territory. It's rubbish.
