I got home form work today to find my eldest son had been set upon by a
gang of youths on his way home from school and had been hit unconscious.

He'd been home for a while, but was still a dizzy blithering idiot, so
a trip to casualty was in order.

Finally, I am home, with son, who is recovering from concussion, with
    no other obvious injuries.

Then, the moral maze: to phone the police, or to go and find the
culprits and give them a taste back.

Responsible citizen that I am, the police won the day. I wonder how
    much good that will do...

    FFS. What was it over?
And a close eye on him.
    Does he know them?

Been there got that.. I came away with fractured skull, nerve / muscle
dammage, pissing blood and loosing a bit of my ballance. Took a good 6 -
    9 months to recover.
Car trips are the worst... be warned. :)
Depends dunnit.. they can do stuff like trash your bike / house at 2am.
Sometimes, there's not much they can do apart from log the incedent for
    statistics and stuff.

Over nothing at all, it seems. There's been some general trouble at
his school of late, so I guess it's some kinfd of spill over - they've
got it in their blood now or something.

He thinks he recognises two of them....

Yes. Might give me some time to find out who they are and where they
    live.

Yes, that thought occured to me too.

Sadly, you are right. I'd be suprised if they even get a warning.

    That isn't very nice.
Sensible precaution, was he seen to quite quickly?
Keep an eye on him and keep him away from the whisky.
Violence begets violence unfortunately, the best thing to do is find out
why your son was set upon and determine plan of action to prevent
repetition. Also make sure that he sticks in at school/college/uni so
that one day he can look back and realise that life can teach much
harder lessons than a beating IYSWIM.
Depends if he has any witnesses who are willing to make a formal statement,
if so then I should think the police should be able to quite a bit.

My friend was set upon by a drunken twat right in front of us,
we knew said twat and made statements to the police, in court
we pointed him out and he was done for assault and criminal
damage he is still paying it off at a fiver a week as he is a povvo bastard.

    GWS to the lad.

Fairly, total time was 4 hours..
I don't think there was a reason besides this group wanting to 'have a
go'. He vaguely recognised two from school, but has nothing to do with
    them

The only witness I know of was his friend who was walking with him,
allittle way ahead: mihgt be enough. There was a woman who brought
him home, but I don't know if she saw anything: we don't know who she
was either: she dropped him off, his sister let him in and she went :-/

    There's hope yet, then.

  10. Something similar, albeit to a lesser degree, here. Nasty Retribution
Plan has already had stages one and two put into effect. Stage three in
    preparation.

**** the police - they won't do anything.

  11. When the same thing happened to my lad a couple of years ago the police got
involved. They said that unless we could find out who did it there was
simply nothing they could do. I told them I rather thought that was their
job, but they didn't seem very interested. As we live in Brunstrom's patch
I expect they had some urgent speed related crimes to deal with.

Sorry to hear that ( gws to your son
Thats good to hear, my best best mates Dad was beaten unconscious and lost
an eye at the time, and is currently losing sight in his other eye, had
brain damage and spinal damage. So at least there was minimal damage to
your boy, doesn't help much I know, and better if it hadn't happened.
A difficult one, its tempting to see what can be done whitout the law
involved, until the time that they do get involved and then it gets messy.
If there's witnesses then there's hope, fingers crossed. I know a few local
police officers who do get pissed off at the length of time things can take
and the lack of ability to legally do much, but as said things go better
when there are independent witnesses. Hope it all turns out well.

Had a kicking meself before. Still staying with parents, spill over from
previous encounters with local neddery. Ended up being hit a lucky
shot with a half brick to the side of the head which floored me. As it
does. Came to with feet beating my head and body and wondering how the
hell I had got there after having previously been running after the little
    bastards.

Decided in end to let the whole thing subside. My family were ready to
kill people as you can imagine. I reckoned the cops would do sod all or
simply turn the gits nastier. Was the straw that broke the camel's back
and I decided to leave and by my own place. Both parents were retired and
my father was not keeping well. I couldn't be doing with an escalation.

You have to think what the consequences of wading in after them will be.
It's a natural thought, but in some areas it can get very, very ugly.

Let the police do their thing and see where it goes.

Then find out for sure who the little scrotes are.

    Then wait.

    Wait some more.

    Wait and wait.

Until they have totaly forgotten about it.

Then, over a long period, make retribution yours, in as nasty a way as
    possible, and very carefully anonymous.

    Revenge. Best served Ice Cold.

There's where you went wrong. You should have said that after they gave him
a kicking they got on a motorbike ane rode off really fast. That would
probably have got you an armed response unit.

    IME police where useless...

I was walking home with a mate an my gf from the cinema a few years back,
and coming up to another group of mates, two cars pulled up (both full of
lads), completely emptied, then started laying into the first group, then
one came running over to us saying my mate had said something to him. He hit
my mate in the face, so I mistakenly stepped in and took him off my mate...

Said mate then ran off, and the first group of mates had already scattered
by this point leaving me to deal with this lad, and the whole group from the
cars, and my gf on her own...

I ended up on the floor with about 8 lads kicking me in the head, back, and
where ever they could really... Luckily my gf didn't get touched, just
    shouted at alot...

Back to my house, and phone the police. About an hour later, two plod turn
up, and one of my mates fromt he scattered group had got the reg of the
    first car...

Tells the cop the reg, and innitially got the responce "Oh, can't be from a
bad family as he's got a pretty new car".

Cop 1 says, we'll go round and see in the morning, to which my mum kicks
off, since she's been dragged out of bed cos of this shit so their family
    should too...

Cops didn't get back to us so after a few days of calling we got the
responce that they went to see the driver, and it he admits it was him
driving, but he says he didn't get out of the car, and he wouldn't tell them
who he was with so there was nothing they could do... Useless twats...

IME, if the initial response is ugly enough - it all goes away. The
scrotes prolly find a new softer target, but that's the law of the
    jungle. Innit.

  19. ISTR Bruce having the same treatment, and then being hit with a house
"For Sale" sign[1], and both "treatments" bouncing off his skull as he
charged at the twat who administered them and beat him to a pul^h^h^h
restrained him until the police arrived.

[1] Both objects were duly produced as evidence when aforementioned twat
    wound up in court.

All manner of plans are forming in my mind. Mostly sweet and patient..

Mind you, as it happens, so far the police are treating it as ABH and
are quite keen to see it through, so we'll wait and see.

For obvious reasons, I'm going to shut up now.
