Sorry to hear your sad news. If any good I could possibly swell the numbers by one, not sure a Deauville counts as a bike in this neighbourhood though. Emailed. Brian
I saw your first response and got all excited ;-) Anyway, I understand the conflict and you can't turn down the offer to be a spannawanka (all expenses paid). However, if you don't manage to sabotage the first string guy you will still be more than welcome to join us. Email for details if there's a chance.
Sorry to hear that. Commiserations. -- Dave GS850x2 XS650 SE6a "It's a moron working with power tools. How much more suspenseful can you get?" - House
Condolences and all that, but I doubt he really will notice what sort of send off you give him. -- Paul. CBR1100XX SuperBlackbird (Buen mueble de patio) And a pushbike of some sort. BOTAFOT #4 BOTAFOF #30 MRO #24 OMF #15 UKRMMA #30 Ovejas y buitres: http://obscuredomainname.org
So Steve, are you able to take-up either of these offers for a bike and join us? We have 9 bikes confirmed so far, including 3 ukrmers. The weather is predicted as dry, little cloud and 21C. Some of guys that are "between bikes" are also coming and have been asked to wear their bike boots. It was a very specific request that Dad made on his last day - something to do with being recognised as bikers. That includes me, so I'm going to look a bit strange getting out of the undertakers limo wearing boots, but WTF it's what he wanted.
Dave, please send me details as I'm not going to the Island now. Tuesday is a no-no though because I have to be elsewhere.
Thanks to Loz, Brian, Kevin & Lyn, we had nine bikes for escorting Dad on his final trip. Nine doesn't sound a lot but it was appreciated by the family and friends, and really impressed the neighbours. In the end though it wasn't just the visual and audible impression of the bikes, it was the way you guys joined-in and saw Dad off with us that really made the difference and showed that being a biker is much more than just the machinery - your support before, during and after the service was a great source of strength that helped me get through the process, including the eulogy. It was a pity we had to meet (ITRW) in these circumstances as I'd be happy to call you all friends, as would the other guys based on the brief interaction. Kevin & Lyn, I trust your satnav managed to locate North Wales and you had a good journey. I'd also like to thank Nick who had planned to join us but was thwarted by another bereavement and could only be with us in spirit.
It was an honour to be able to join you, and accompany your Dad on his final journey. I was thinking about your thoughts on your eulogy and what we heard about your Dad, and I suspect he would have said to you 'Son, you did good', as did your sister. Two open, honest, and loving eulogies that showed a lovely man. A send off to be proud of. I hope you and your family find peace in the coming months. Brian
There's nothing more I can add to what Brian said, I'm just glad I was able to help see a 'funny bugger' off the way he wanted.
