Cycle insurance "law" in Missouri

Thinking of moving to KC, MO or St. Louis or other Missouri location? Might
    want to reconsider.

They've been trying to repeal the idiot helmet law for decades. Nothin'
    shakin'.

    In addition to liability:

"The law also requires you to have uninsured motorist coverage of
$25,000 for bodily injury per person and $50,000 for bodily injury
    per accident."

Near as I can tell, this does nothing for me, as I have med ins. which
covers me. Confirmed by Anthem BC/BS. I pay State Farm $39/year for liability,
$110 for "uninsured motorist". The agent refuses to reduce the policy
    to liability-only.

I can just *smell* the ins. co. lobbyists (years ago) saying "this here will be
good for the bikers", state senators thinking "we've defecated on bikers
for years, they can't hurt us".

Do other states have unreasonable ins. "laws"? Is MO a good state to
    avoid like the Black Plague?

    Cheers,
    Puddin'

Do other states have unreasonable ins.
What you described in your full post is similar to the insurance "laws"
here in Illinois. What state are you from now that doesn't require
uninsured motorist? I thought all states / insurance companies had that.

At least y'all have a civilized helmet law.
I didn't say I was in such a state. I'm in MO, but
I'll do my damndest to avoid paying for UIM.
I thought virtually all states required only liability ins.
UIM is not liability ins. regardless of what you might find
    in state statutes.

True, but UIM is required by law in Indiana. It always seemed a bit
oxymoronic to me that you need insurance against uninsured motorists when
it illegal for them to be uninsured in the first place.

    Thanks. I'm collecting info ...
Yeah, but they are "out there", and they do have "accidents".

To my knowledge, anyone with a standard medical ins. policy is
covered. We pay for both. Anyone that can collect on both, I'll
buy 'em "A Cigar And A Beer". :)
