Bollocks. If one's sense of balance is inadequate to enable
confidently holding a bike upright while sinking to one knee and
checking the oil, then I suggest that one is not suited to riding the
    machine.
    Nicely put.

Well, I think I was a bit more diplomatic about it, but I happen to
    agree with you.

This balancing bikes thing is funny. My wife and son are both new
riders, and they both happen to have attained the 2nd degree black belt
in karate, so I know they have a decent sense of balance. However,
like many new riders, they sometimes have a bit of difficulty balancing
their bikes under certain circumstances, even while seated on them.

You and I, having ridden for years, have no trouble balancing even
the heaviest machines, because we have learned that it is very easy
to do if you simply take care to keep them centered, not letting them
get too far to one side or another.

Would it be ok to leave the moon on the other end?
It fell away from me off a ledge and landed squarely upside down on a
dwarf wall that bordered a flower bed. For a moment it looked like it
might balance there but of course it continued to roll and landed on
it's wheels leaning against the office conference room window.

I make that 360 or maybe it's a double 180 as it landed half way
    through?

I'm not entering Kick Start if that's what you mean. I find that
forward motion keeps the shiny side up when riding.

"Yes I know what speed I was doing officer, it's a balance phobia."

Hah. Been there *parp* now I always hold it with thumb wrapped around

I thought it was the oil filler cap[1] that was dangerous on Bandits?

[1] Especially when left at end of the driveway.

    Fucker. How you recall that?

I left it on the clutch casing *actually* and found it at the end of
the driveway when I returned home ... an hour later with a scarred
Bandit, a squished foot, a rear tyre covered in clean new oil and a
    fallen crest.

Sorry. It was before my time but I found it on a google search one day
when I was seeking 'Bandit + something' and it sort of stuck in my
mind, especially with you being a respected member of the parish and
    all.
But you shared the experience and now people like me always check the
cap is secure after topping up. I thank you.
