    No centre stand?

    Chain need oiling?

Get yourself one of these http://www.asqk52.dsl.pipex.com/stand1.jpg [1]

The stand pictured was designed and built for a Bandit 600 but we can
build them according to your specification to fit your bike[2]. It
should be noted that model shown is a prototype and production models
are only available in The One True Colour.

Also available in kit form upon request.

    Now where's that fleabay account...

[1] pictured drip tray available at additional cost.
[2] single sided swing arm owners need not apply.

Oooh, you quoted the spammer's url, Piiiiiip! ;-)

Actually, I was merely oiling my chain this evening and thought there
may be others who would benefit from this amazing piece of technology.

Why have you taken the center stand off the Bandit?

Neither is mine, but it still came with one. Are you its first owner? If
not then I bet the last owner put a race pipe on it, and had to take the
center stand off, then lost it.

I'll take that as a whoosh then, I was referring to your American
    spelling of centre.
I'm not the first owner but as far as I know it was never ftted with a
centre stand - it's an early (P reg) unfaired model .

I thought all Bandits had a centre stand, even the early 600 without
    grabrails.

Oh, ok. Well I don't have much experience of Bandits in general, just
this one, which is an early 600 without grabrails.

I've just dug out my Owner's Manual and I quote "This motorcycle is
equipped with center[1] stand (except GSF600) and side stand to support
    the motorcycle when parking."

The manual covers GSF1200/S & GSF600/S. Printed in July 1996.

So I don't need to keep an out for it on the M5 - although my exhaust
    heat shield is there somewhere...

    [1] Their spelling.

Indeed, they must have started putting center stands on them the year my
    one was built.

The lack of centre stand only bothers me when checking the oil. The
combinaton of holding the bike vertical whilst getting my head low
enough to see the oil sight glass seems to be a recipe for disaster.

I've had trouble with centre stands in the past though. My old GS500
managed a 360 degree barrel roll after I slipped putting it on the
    centre stand.
