Curse you, Sweller!

  1. I wandered into Machine Mart today for a socket (to replace a lost one)
and came out with a rail of sockets. And a set of stud extractors.

Oh well, I expect they'll come in handy.

When I need to extract a stud, for example.

You don't know how lucky you are, I've lost my tool box. **** knows
where it went but went it has.

It had all them useful little tools in it that you collect over the
years. The 5/8th screwdriver with the broken blade that is really good
as a lever and impact driver and blunt chisel. The 10mm ring spanner
thing with a wobbly end that you could get in absolutely *anywhere*.
The screw holder I made when I worked at the Bank of England. All sorts
of things and all gone. A bastard it is.

The worst part is that I really don't know how to replace it as it sort
of evolved. I mean the box itself just happens to be the one tool
container that has turned out to be just the right size shape and
strength to do the job. The nearest I know to it that can still be
found for sale today is at the toot auctions in Chelmsford and if you
bid on a toolbox there to help clear some poor bastards bankruptcy for
50p you can come away with 15 yards of assorted shite with it if you are
    not careful.

    Aaargh!

Avoid, avoid, avoid. They've got no power whatsoever, the chucks are
fucking awful, and (most importantly) they don't run slow enough.

    No shit?

Unfortunately, one showed up as my birthday present a little while back.
It's still in its box, somewhere in the back of the shed.

I rang them today. If I want one, VAT free, I've got to go in and pay
for it on Sunday, then they'll ring me, and I can go and pick it up
    next week.

Seven feet long, and three feet wide. Should be fun getting it home.

I also need a breaker bar. I don't know why I need one, I just *do*.

Man needs a breaker bar. He just /does/.

In three assorted lengths - in 3/8" and 1/2" drive, natch.

Actually, it being you - 1" square drive, Sir? Guaranteed never to
rip, slip or turn inside out ...

Half-inch, I reckon - I guess I'll only need it on bigger sockets.

    I can't imagine a 2' bar being a good idea on a 10mm socket.
or fit any of my sockets.

Indeed. The 36" 1/2" beastie inspires fear wherever deployed.
    Although I have a dinky little 'strongarm' 3/8" bar that's about 8"
long, and a 3/8" breaker that's about 24". Dead bastard handy when
    used with care.
    Buy more sockets. Duh.
