There's a bloke lives behind me who's got a V-Strom with panniers. On
the day my Versys was delivered he pulled up on his bike and watched it
being unloaded from the trailer then shouted "It's ugly, but not as
ugly as this" and pissed off.

Since then I haven't seen him or the Strom... until today.

I was in the garage moving my toolchest into position next to the bench
when I heard a bike pull up. He got off, strode over to the Versys
which was parked outside and looked at the topbox and handlebar muffs
before saying "You can try all you like, it'll never be as ugly as
mine" got on his bike and fucked off again.

I shouted "You're fucking weird" after him, but I don't think he needed
    telling.

    Sounds quite normal...for a v-strom owner.

    Sounds pretty normal for Clapham.

You really need to move away from that in-breeding centre of
    excellence.

How do you rate your Versys against the V-Strom?

Strange. Though the stock Dunlops D221s aren't a sticky tyre by any
means, I never had an issue with them. Before I lowered the bike I
could get the pegs scraping and they never gave me cause for concern.
Since I lowered the bike I've had to remove the hero blobs because they
were digging in on almost every decent corner. I hear they crash quite
well and don't do much damage to plastics when they go down. I've put
Hepco and Backer crash bars on mine just in case.

I've fitted Avon Viper Sports AV59 and AV60 now, I know they won't last
as well as the Dunlops (4500 miles) but I don't care because they were
cheap and grip like shit to a blanket
I find mine is very predictable but like you I would have plumped for a
litre version if they did one.

Oh. <checks google maps>. Looks ghastly.

You're not in one of those bungalows off Oakley road are you?

Those aren't bungalows as such, they are 'static' and 'mobile' homes.
My gaff is a proper brick built bungalow near the entrance to that
site, but not a part of it.
