Some time after the exchange rate improves, I should think.

possibly because they knew you could buy it, cheaper, in the Tescos in
    Cite Europe.

I shouldn't bother, the fucking Frogs are blockading the harbours and
threatening to start on Eurotunnel. *Again*.

I really don't understand this, we have a perfectly good Navy, Why don't
we use it? Surely a few 4-inch shells appropriately placed would solve
the problem and increase the available quota for the survivors?

    Win=win.

change that I can make: I have decided not to breed. Now quit bugging me and
go and talk to the Catholics.

I'm fairly sure they had bottle English ales the last time I was
    there.
    oh I don't doubt it.

Also, the exchange rate now means it's probably no longer cheaper in
    France.

Sounds like you haven't stopped drinking. Can you rephrase that from
    pissednese to English please ?

I had some strong beer. Drinking one bottle is fine, so is drinking
three or more. WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T DRINK TWO.

It was remarkably lucky or prescient of me that I tunnelled out this
morning. The weather at 'the chateau' though glorious on arrival (thus
the mowing and undergrowth hacking was accomplished) had gone distinctly
off and the long range forecast was for wall to wall rain until next
week so we decided to start home on Tuesday. A gantry sign on the
autoroute approaching Boulogne had the message "Manifestation - Calais
and Boulogne portes fermee." 'WTF?' we thought, then guessed a strike.
The TV in the John Bull pub[1] at Coquelles revealed the news about the
blockade. Arriving at Le Shuttle terminal bright and early I did think
how easy it would be to block the slip road off the motorway with a
strategically placed 'solidarity' HGV or two. Surprisingly the queues
for booths for people without bookings weren't as long as I had
expected. Still glad I had already rebooked ours by phone[2] on Monday
    though.
French territorial waters innit? Though as some boats were apparently
flying the 'Jolly Roger', perfectly legitimate targets for a gunboat
    perhaps.

[1] Not as bad as it sounds.
[2] Those mademoiselles on the eurotunnel phone lines are just so
    pleasant and efficient.

I've noticed that on American police shows on the telly.
Drivers who can hardly stand up have always had 'a couple of beers',
    never three or more.

Among the beers I consumed yesterday was this:

    http://www.thomashardysale.org.uk/

It's quite thick, and strong. One bottle suffices.

    Closest clothes place:
    http://www.mcarthurglen.com/locations/uk/ashford/index.htm

That's M20 Junction 10, so only one or two away from Eurotunnel
    (Junction 11A, IIRC)

Or there's Bluewater, which is rather large for a shopping centre,
    well, huge, really:
    http://www.bluewater.co.uk/

But you could just hop up the M2/A2 to Canterbury and go shopping
around there. Canterbury is a nice little city to go shopping in,
with little odd shops as well as places like Fenwicks, Debenhams. Or
you could just stick to Folkestone.

Or there's County Square in Ashford which is a medium sized place. So
if you do trAshford you could do McArthur Glen and County Square which
is about 10 or 15 minutes from Folkestone up the M20.

Well, they're not going to say, "I've been drinking heavily since I got up
this morning" even if it's true. Anyway, it's probably a well-understood
euphemistic usage, like "over-refreshed", "tired and emotional", "making
    good progress" etc.
