Just trying to get a half decent bike for road & track use. I know it's
the beginning of spring, but crikey. Thought i had a nice 2000 R1, but
the bloke changed his mind. Prices are up all over the place. Either
expensive or fucked, or not there.

Cars are worth tuppence, bike don't seem to be doing too bad.

I saw a 2008 R1 for £7k brand new, not bad. I need summat older, around
    early £2k

    I have seen a 1999 R1 for £2400, but **** me it's gay as ****. I want to
    be around £2k for it.

New gixxer looks nice in the flesh, but £10k?

Look around for something that needs an easy repair. Something like a
loose tappet. Usually the owner thinks it's something serious like a
camchain and tries to get shot of it quickly. If you're extra lucky the
owner may have recently spent extra ££'s on new tyres, shock etc.

Seen a 954 minter for £2100! Blades are OK, but not me, dunno why.

I like the look & seating position on a nice Mille, what they like
    mechanically?

Bad form, anyway as in maybe it fits your "nice 2000 R1" requirement.
Although if that was last week...

So make him an offer. I made enquiries and he says it's actually just chips,
not stone chips as in "been highsided and formerly blue, now blue and scratch
fairings are held on with gaffer tape"

I didn't say there were no cars, but those available are being bid over by
the many struggling second hand car lots and prices are rising. And for the
right car at the right price used business is good. 3 vehicles were bought
before I could get to see them and the one I dropped a deposit on unseen had
a couple of vultures nearby the next day when I went down.

It's quite effective, when we went into the showroom a family were bouncing
all over it and clearly enthusiastic. I had it out for a test ASAP and
slapped the dosh down before the other caaant could interfere.
