Crashed my bike :(

Right; first thing, get a bucket of water out and clean the fucker.
You'll feel better right away because it won't look like a pile of shit.

The front forks might just be twisted in the yokes, the clocks might
still work, any bent or broken levers can be replaced and the engine
    bars have done their job.

Might look rough at the moment, but I'd be surprised if you can't get
that back on the road for peanuts.

Just out of morbid curiosity. Were the 6 or so dead fuckers of a similar

No probs. I can understand how you might not want to talk about such
personal memories in a public arena.

I got through a couple of large buckets of muddy water last night and
it looks a bit better, still needs a good going over though.

All of the surviving lights work on it. including the headlamp, but
there's not a peep out of the ignition (it's as if I'm not pressing
it) even when I toggle the cut out switch and try with the clutch
    in//out.

There's also a smell of petrol coming from the tank, but I can't be
sure if this is a good or bad thing. It was a full tank when it went
Rubber Side Up/Sniny Side Down, and my tank bag was covered in petrol,
but this could be because the tank was full/overfilled and some just
    seeped out of the side.

There is coolant in the reservoir, but I can't see any oil through the
glass (but I haven't tilted it yet - and the oil was a little on the
LOW side when I picked it up) and it's sitting on a slight hill (the
wrong way) but I can't see any source of a leak so I assume it's all
    in there still.

Is the lack of any kind of ignition tied to the black and brown wires
going into the rev counter not being connected?

Tell him to **** off with Jane and Freddy, then sleep with Bungle!

Anyhow, having seen the pictures the bike doesn't look *too* bad, new
fork stanchions, headlight, possibly dials, maybe a fueltank repair..
    and you'll be set.

Hope you're able to move around ok now the bruising will be coming
    through.

I ache more than I have ever done before :) However, I'm still going
to go outside and clean the rest of the mud off of the bike, with one
    hand!

Electrically, it could possibly just be that the battery has gone flat - can
you remember if the ignition was turned off straight after the lob, for
    instance?

Visually inspect the battery as well - are all the cells still filled to the
level with sulphuric acid - it may have discharged some of it when laying on
    its side,

The other thing to check first in the absence of any obvious broken
electrical bits, is check to see if any of the bikes fuses have blown.

I may be wrong, but I doubt what sounds like the feed wires to the rev
counter being disconnected would cause the bike to be FUBAR, unless of
course they've caused a short of some description - whatever, if you can,
patch them up, just to be sure.

The other thing is, I'd certainly make sure it has enough oil in it, before
trying to get it running again - can you remember if it left much of it
where it lay on the road, when you binned it?

If you get really stuck, I'm only over in Canterbury, so can pop over at
some stage in the next few days if necessary, to help resurrect it.

It's worth reporting because if it was diesel or some other shite on
the road, they're obliged to get it cleaned up. Might save some other
    poor bugger coming off.
Ah. I've had a look at your pictures and I think you got off lightly.
Damn good clean and a few sundries should see you back on the road.

The bake was "on" for about 10 minutes until someone asked if I'd got
the key on me, and I said no. Hey asked where it was so I said in the
ignition, and they said "Yeah, but where is it?" "It's in the middle
of the handlebars." As all of the lights are still working I
*imagine* the battery is okay (plenty of heat from the headlamp.)
I haven't checked the battery visually yet, but I'll have a go at
pulling the fuses out tomorrow. While cleaning it today and yanking
it around the driveway I've totally fucked the muscles in my right arm
so I think that's the end of my bike duties today!
The clocks looks really fudged at the moment, I've put up some more
pickies of the "clean" version of the bike - URL is elsewhere in this
    thread.
After shoving it around in the driveway I can see that it has oil in
    it, so that's okay.
Fantastic - I may end up taking you up on that offer sometime!

I've got a whole week off of work (holiday - not going anywhere) so I
can do some tinkering, but my knowledge of anything more technical
than a pencil sharpener dips into minus figures.

I can't see any obvious leaks at all, which looks good.
I'll try to pick one up this week, I have no transport at present so I
    have to rely on lifts.

My other half has no interest in the bike whatsoever, in fact I'd go as far
as saying that she positively dislikes it.

That said, she doesn't moan too much when money is spent on it, and does go
    to the odd event [1].

She has no interest in bikes though, and won't even give the slightest
opinion on them: "it's a bike Dan, what else would you like me to say?"

Funnily enough, there is currently a small tension growing in the household,
as my lad is about to take his car test.

We have got him sorted out with a reasonable motor, although he's going to
have to sell the NSR to pay for it. His plan is to then save up to do his
test, and then buy a 400 later in the year.

SWMBO is not up for this at all, using financial reasons as her main weapon
of choice. My attitude is such that it's his money, so he can do what the
**** he wants to with it (although secretly I would like him to stay with
bikes, although that's prolly just me being selfish as bikes have proven to
    be a good "bonding" medium).

Looks like I'll also be finding somewhere else to live this week
too... my current landlord has just requested I **** off as I entered
just now because I have a dangerous hobby and they need someone that
isn't going to kill themselves in this room.

Looks like the repair of the bike will have to wait until I find
    somewhere else to live <sigh>

    Aren't parents great?
