BGN emerged from their own little world to say That really is shit. It makes one wonder about approaching an ambulance chasing lawyer. Just make sure people know how "good" Akito jackets are.
Akito Python 2. I thought the arm was ripped off before, but it appears that the kevlar is intact inside, it had just run all the way up to my elbow. There's a picture of it above somewhere in this thread I've been VERY fortunate.
The main thing is that you escaped with pretty minor injuries although I'm sure it doesn't feel like it. Many of us have fallen off - including in the early days of riding - and survived to ride another day. Don't get too downhearted and do aim to get back on a bike and get past any fear / worry as fast as possible. I almost let this stop me getting back on a bike. Oh and do take some extra training - we all keep learning. A rather philosophical response all things considered.
It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the OK, that's your first crash over with. Now get out and ride.
BGN says... No you don't. Surely if there are no claims made against anyone else or yourself, then there is no need to tell them. If I tolds my insco about every time I crashed a bike, I'd have been near fucking uninsurable by the time I was 17.
Oops, clumsy ****. Try to keep the shiny side uppermost in future. The Eagle Flys on friday And Saturday, Saturday, I goes out to play... Get some ale down you, best anaesthesia available.
Feel lucky you didn't break anything! Fucking hell! My H.G. jacket only had a scuff marks where I hit the road (several times) and went sliding after my off. I hope you got that jacket really cheap?
Bugger :-( Glad you're ok - GWS Sheesh, and after you survived the ordeal of a BOSM *and* a ride on WC's mingin' bike.
Marc D wrote: [... more bollocks...] Um, I may have formed an incorrect opinion. Is that big gash in there caused by the ambulance crew or the off itself?
Bear says... A 60mph spill in a textile jacket and he walked away with scuffs- not so bad really. As Paul Varnsverry pointed out in a link to some test figures, even good cordura only lasts a split second before perforation occurs on impact with tarmac. Start it tearing like that and then add in a few tumbles and you've got a piece of material that will rip like an old bedsheet does. I dare say my Gericke Voyager jacket would shred like bog paper if I was to send it up the road, but it keeps me warm and dry.
My Bellstaff Explorer help up well against the onslaught of tarmac and only suffered minor damage, so pleased was I that I got another.
I don't know you as I'm new here but I would like to say I hope you have a quick recovery. I'm glad you are ok (essentially). I hope you have many more years of biking fun and die an OAP. Now get back on the road asap and remember the good stuff... Cheers
Just seen it - So it's not the Jacket material but the fit that was the problem. Its something worth bearing in mind when you look around for a replacement. Oh yes indeedy.
Well, it was on the 4th March I mentioned my off on the snow.... (At Least it's Naked) Not that it's an award I'd cherish. -- John SV650 Black it is and naked
