Crashed my bike :(

I royally crashed my bike on the way home from work.

I would like to think that I hit a wet oil/diesel patch on a 60mph
    bend, but I'm not sure.

I went around the bend as usual, slid to the left, and I noticed the
mud and grass at the side of the road coming closer. I THEN LOOKED AT
IT (Fucking hell) and headed right for it. Thought "Oh bother" as I
mounted the mushy side of the road and WALLOP.
After a lengthy lot of impacts (I couldn't see anything, but I could
hear and feel it) I skidded to a stop on my right arm and side of my
    helmet.

I pondered moving and opened my eyes and noticed that I was on the
brow of a hill on a 60mph road, and a bit too close to that brow.
After an internal debate which must have lasted a couple of seconds I
decided that spine or no spine I didn't want to be run over to finish
off the day and rolled to the side back to the mud and grass while
making a really odd "AUERRRRRR" sound, I couldn't take in any air and
after a few seconds of being sky facing I managed to grab a very vocal
breath and after a panting session, and no less than five cars passing
but not stopping a lady came up to me and said "Are you okay?"

After a shuffle of hands and feet and toes and fingers I thanked her
for her concern and said a yes.

Ambulance arrived 10 minutes later and shoved me on a spinal board and
commented that my bike was 100ft away, and that they had to shut both
    lanes of the A20.

Police also turned up and asked what happened. Whatever might be left
of my ER-5 is sitting in a garage in Cheriton. I will go and have a
look at it tomorrow, but judging from the petrol that I'm soaked in, I
don't think it's ever going to be usable again.

    Shopping list:

    1) Motorcycle
    2) New jacket (Kevlar intact, arm ripped off on road and rest chopped
    apart by amublance crew)
    3) New helmet & visor (Completely shagged, scratched all down the
    side)
    4) New gloves (Armour on knuckles is shagged)
    5) Possibly more training...

Lozzo, I'm pleased to advise that apart from a bit of scuffing and an
inch of mud, the Nitro Boots are still dandy.

Apart from aching knees + all over, the only serious injury I have is
just the flesh on my right arm, which now has A20 in it. I also
suspect that because of the scrubbing brush that they cleaned my elbow
out with, that some of my Nylon GAP shirt is now part of my skin.

Bit of a shit day really apart from it being pay day.

    BGN says...
Oh shit, that's bad news. I hope it hasn't put you off. Like you say,
training helps. Get the bike away from the garage and to your home as
soon as you can, because it will be racking up storage costs at a
stupid rate on a daily basis.
They aint bad for the money, are they? Buy some more and encourage
others to do the same <opens Swiss account>

Now grab your wallet and go and see that nice man Nigel down the bottom
of Cheriton Road, and tell him I sent you.

    You lucky bastard

I passed my test nearly 2 years ago and am still wailting for my first bin,
despite being assured it'd happen within the first year.

BTW, glad you are (reasonably) okay (ish)

It hasn't put me off, but I fucking hurt all over, but thankfully it
was a lot better than it could have been. After closer inspection of
the jacket (I'll have to take a photo to show how fucked it is) it
appears that the spinal armour snapped during bouncing, which is
    probably better than my spine.
I'll see how the bike is first, I think the police handed it over to
KAP which I vocally told them not to do, but they did any way.

    Now... What bike to buy?!

I think I'm going to need a skin graft on my arm, as it's got Nylon
from my Gap shirt embedded in it and they couldn't remove it. But I
    was VERY fortunate otherwise.

Hard luck mate... You seem to have come away from it without too much damage
and none of that physio bollocks to do.

Get back on a bike as soon as you are able and don't let it put you off.
