    Commiserations. Bike repairable?

Unless, of course, it was the missus wot done it, in which case you
    probably deserved it.

    GWS.

Was it an "only to be expected really" racing-type excursion?

    I did indeed.

Qualified in 11th place on a 1:04.10 lap which I was
quite happy with. Got a good start but the pack
bunched into Gerrards and I got the front cut off
and had to brake and stand it upright which lost me
a couple of places. I was then going underneath
someone when I spotted a yellow flag so had to back
it off and not pass. I wanted to go with the front
pack and went down the inside of the unpassed rider
into Edwinas, flicked it left the right, gassed it
up and the rear spun and I lowsided as the back
came round. Took a knock to my knee and pulled my
back muscles and shoulder but my leg and WUN's
awesome footpegs saved the paintwork. Only damage
was to said footpeg, slight scrape on the carbon can
and popped the washer on the Brembo radial m/c, so
I replaced the footpeg and borrowed a hairband to
hold the floppy brake lever in place. Manage to
get 13th in race 2 but was struggling after 8 laps
and really could keep up the pace, fl was 1.06 :-(

Not a complete disaster but pretty pissed off, tbh,
as it was a little bit of red mist and I should have
    bided my time.

    Commiserations, GWS, clumsy **** etc.
**** ... what kind of racer carries a spare hairband?

When I were a lad we were all rufty-tufty types who had slick (Well, long,
lanky, greasy) hair and one comb amongst 23 of us ... ;)

She must be related to Desperate Dan if her hairband held your brake
lever in place for race 2.

Roll on Assen in two weeks. Four days of staying
in the local hotel and riding bikes in the sun
with good company. That's all I'm saying.
Ick. No VD for me thanks!

You're right. There were 7 crashers in that race,
and far more over the whole day. Results included
two broken wrists, one broken collar bone, one
broken angle, a few broken ribs, someone wore down
his little finger to the bone (a la Bayliss) and
lots of bumps, bruises and dented pride.
Imagine sitting through 2 hours of endurance racing
waiting for our second race yesterday. At one point
(ie, the start) they had 7 (yes, SEVEN) bikes racing,
until they started to retire/expire/crash. Thrilling
was not the word I used.

It's when ambition exceeds talent that you get into trouble.
Yeah, I'm fine, just a bit sore that's all. Gotta get
things sorted for saturday at Donington Bikefest!

    It's not a race, honest!

We've been told to keep it close but not mental as
we're supposed to be doing 30 minutes. I'm just a
bit worried if both me and the bike last that long.

[1] groups.google has taken a real turn for the worse
over the last week, not updating indexes or updating
indexes and then not showing the articles, so I've
gone back to NutScrape. And a full sig. For now.
