Have you considered Bear may have, though communicated in his own
    unique way, a point?

You're wasting your time Dan. Nick will just accuse you of picking on
him so you're better waiting until he's feeling in a better mood and
    is a bit less snappy.

  3. Perhaps you could take a deep breath, exhale and then not reply?

Not every post on here warrants a reply regardless of whether someone is
being nice to you or winding you up.

I don't believe I'm more of a NetKop than anyone else, so no I don't
    feel he has a point.

On that aspect - you have a point.

How about the aspect of you being a newbie round here [1] but
apparently not viewing it that way?

Referring to earlier : "I've been around for years, dear. "

In the recent past you've had both this aspect and your giving advice
to other riders when your recent record is taken into account
questioned. I'm intrigued why your response to this is to deny/ignore
    it rather than consider it.

FWIW I did exactly the same thing and it was pointed out (by, amongst
others, Bear) and they were, in hindsight, quite right. My response (on
the whole) was to take a look at what I was posting. I still get it
wrong, but it did make me think more. I'm just trying to point out that
maybe you could consider this approach? Might result in less snipes.

That said, we're all different, so feel quite free to tell me to ****
    right off :)

[1] it'll be five years for me this year and I'm still a newbie to some
    :)

Bears comment did not refer to anything other than being a Newbie
NetKop and if he intended it to then he did not qualify it. I've been
using the internet for many, many years and have been active on usenet
for well over a decade now. This may be regarded by some as being a
    newbie but I certainly don't.
I remember the thread you are referring to. I pointed out then and
will again now that the advice I gave to a different poster in that
same thread was in answer to a question about another riding matter
and was unrelated to the original post and would only have been
unclear if I had posted the answer to a different question in reply to
the OP's first question. The answer was in relation to a different
question made by someone else which was in the same thread and is
therefore unrelated to the originating matter.
I have recently reviewed my posting style and what I post. I post a
lot less than I used to and do not participate in a lot of the threads
and discussions that go on here - I don't have the time.

I don't believe I get many snipes at all. When people have a point
they're generally quite out with it which is the way I like. Bear
says he's got me in his shit list which means that if he throws out a
shitty remark which is perhaps unjustified then he isn't going to read
my reply. I wasn't going to lose any sleep over it and getting into a
long and complicated hatchet job on the remark wasn't worth it as the
recipient wasn't going to see it so a simple one line reply was
    justified.

I did, however, call him 'dear' at the end which could have been
mistaken for an insult. I do apologise to Mr. Bear if it was taken
this way but those of you who know me IRL will understand that I call
most people 'dear', 'luvvie' and 'sweetheart' regardless of gender
(but IRL it's mostly because I can never remember their name and don't
want to appear rude after five years by asking who the hell they are)
as that's just the way I talk.
I could never tell you to **** off, luvvie, that would be rude. The
only person I've ever told to **** off was probably Blaney but he
seems like a nice enough chap.
    Fucking newbies.
