I would have said yes, given the amount of times I tried to crash into
the back of you. I also tried to skittle Ogden and Ozmick on several
occasions so I suspect it may be less to do with you or others...

I *really* tried to wipe out platty once. That was for different reasons
    though.

    I had a first, on Monday: a "feet-up" commute. :)

6 miles, 4 right turns, 14 sets of lights, and 6 pelican crossings.

    Two-up.

    Quite chuffed, I was.

The Renault 21 Turbo I owned was a complete nightmare to work on, as was
my Renault 5, as was my mates Renault Clio... as were the Renaults he
used to work on every day as a mechanic. He gave up spannering Renaults,
    and moved to Toyota.

My sister has a Renault people carrier of some sort. Her rear windscreen
wiper packed up, and took out the engine management system too. Is that
    just a little wanky?
Never had a BMC/Leyland. Only had a Land rover SIII, and that was a gem
    to work on.

AOL. None of my Cits were particularly challenging[1], the 18 was very
slightly hooligan, and the Espace sucked dead goats through a straw for
    money. So to speak.

    Around 300 notes for Haslam.

Good fun when I went, and I want to go back for the Fireblade course.

Heh. And which finger would that be?

One finger's of little use on the Trophy, it likes the whole fist...

I was gazing at the church in the cliff and you had the temerity to stop
at a red traffic light. So yes, you were asking for it.

It's between 200 and 300 quid depending on the tuition and track,
Silverstone GP being expensive and Snetters being quite cheap. Plus, Bemsee
do there own tuition thing in february for 199.

I think you should do it. If you're interested you're going to end up riding
for Team ukrm (Elite) anyway sooner or later.

Idar-Oberstein, the town with the wonderful twisty hill on the way out.

<pauses for a couple of minutes, reviewing the highlights of the Frankfurt
    run>

North Africa's going to be /brilliant/.

of course - I don't tend to find myself doing this, though.
I almost never use the rear brake - I mean like, really almost never.
I should try it, I suppose.

it's a "problem"/"bad" habit you get into with tight/long corners like
roundabouts when you ride a bike with lots of power. Because you know
you *can*, you brake hard before the roundabout, maintain a slightly
positive throttle round the roundabout, and then nail it on the exit.

I ride completely differently on the BMW i.e because you know it
accelerates like a snail, you hammer into the roundabouts (probably
too fast for safety) and keep the throttle pretty far open the hole
time, avoiding the brakes if at all possible.

Last evening, I got official clearance from 'er indoors to get a race

On three or four occasions I managed a "feet-up" commute from Ponder's
End to Blackheath, down the North/South route, through Walthamstow,
Leyton, A102, Blackwall tunnel etc. 15 miles or so.

I was much more pleased with myself the *one* time I managed to do the
    same route without braking.
    that's the impressive part.

when I say "cover" around town, I mean my fingers are lightly resting
on the levers. If I'm outside of town, I'll try and keep all fingers
on the actual bars, though - like Porl mentioned - I'll also extend my
fingers if I'm coming up to a side-road junction with a car waiting to
    join etc.
yup - I'm no riding god, but I like to practice all this stuff, along
    with the likes of:

    * just how fucking hard can I brake? (even in the wet, on Rennsports,
the answer appears to be "a lot"; in the dry, *fuckloads* seems to be
    the upper "limit")
    * can I ride a twisty piece of road I know well just holding the RHS
bar/throttle i.e. trusting countersteering? (the answer is a
    resounding "no problem")

that's exactly it - it feels alien for a while, but once you've been
doing it for a while - say a 1000 miles/3-4 months - then it feels the
"right" way to do it, and doing it the other way is what feels
    "wrong".
