  2. Arse. I think it's a more recent codec problem. Updating now.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about. The player thingy here
asked me nicely if it was OK to go and get its own codec update and
then, having been given permission, got on with it.

  6. Hemm. New codecs and stuff didn't cure it at all. Other wmv s play
perfectly fine, but not this one.

    Corrupted file, I thinks.

Just that you and Ade had a lot in common.

    Or one thing, at least.

By which I mean, of course, that you're both much quicker than me :)

Why? What did _you_ think I meant?

Doubt it. The file I can play is the copy Salad made. I am sure that
the media player thing would take each and every opportunity to throw it
out if there were anything wrong with it. You know what windows is

I *do* hope they wrote exactly what was recorded :)

Once this is all over I wonder if the plod's boss would like to know how
professional the "boys" are at work?

Yeees, but given who told me the rumour ... well, let's just say you'd
    expected her to know.

Or, at least, I hope, for your sake, that she'd know.
Jesus, _I_ crash less than Ade, it's not exactly a claim to fame :)

  11. I can't play that one either; yet other, older wmv s are playing ok.
I think I'll rip out WMP and start again.

  12. The file's a V.8 WMV file with absolutely basic mono audio - a V.9 codec
or player shouldn't have any problem with it at all

  14. nope, nothing about the commentary. just the basic facts like
'squeezing' between cars and 'swerving' into the outside lane.

Not just American shows either. I get a bit pissed off actually with
    these shows - I remember a 'Police, Camera, Action'-type show a couple
    of years back:

"This stolen BMW is heading down the M6 at speeds of up to *100*
    miles per hour"

****, every time I go on the M6 you're lucky if you can do more
    than 20mph.

Yeah. Like those illiterate/innumerate SALE advertisements you sometimes
    see:
