I think Champ and I have both commented before on paranoia about *any* car
which appears to be pacing us or closing the gap.

Oh, aye, but I thought a little leniency was in order.

Says the chap who got nicked by a marked Senator on the M4 in 1994. :)

To be fair, it was dark, and it was snowing.

Neither of which seemed to succeed as mitigating circumstances.

£40 and three points for 100+ ... those were the days.

So, so easy to do on summat like a ZZR11 or a Blackbird. You think
you're doing about 100 at most, you look down and see the needle
    pointing at 140mph.

  5. My thoughts exactly. Just from the conversation on the clip, I'd guess it
    was a standard jam sarny.

It also occurs to me that - if they'd spotted the plods as they passed,
obviously - a promptly-applied extra 40 or 50mph would have made the whole
    thing academic.

  6. well thanks to Dodger I have now seen it.

While you were both going quite quickly I don't see any great issue over
the speeding. The "filtering" is nothing even I haven't done before -
especially when riding with Mr Blaney down the M4.

The bit that makes me stop and think is the rather obvious lack of
awareness of the unmarked car and then the delay in realising you were
being chased and responding to the blues and twos. I imagine - as I am
not trafpol and don't know the law - that doesn't count towards the Due
Care but it's the bit that looks worst to me. From a personal viewpoint
I would admit to being totally crap at spotting unmarked cars - there
are many on here who seem to have an instinctive ability to spot such
    vehicles. Hints and tips folks??

The video clip confirms my worst fears as to how traffic rules are
enforced in this country. The coppers come across as dullards to me.
Talk about being bored shitless with your job and just drolly sitting
there "adding up" the running total of offences. Perhaps we need to
campaign for more speed cameras if that level of intelligence is the
    alternative.

I wish you both the best of luck - I'm just grateful I'm not in your
    shoes.

    "Erm, I dunno"

    Scary.

OK, the 'ellipses' indicated a not altogether serious point.

The "don't see why a small matter of the law..." indicated the same.

I'll accept (despite what Kiran said elsewhere) that you're right on
    this point.
Well I think permanantly is pretty reasonable to be honest.

The first time he (the thickest sounding one) said "maintaining speed",

    Pigs, I fucking hate 'em.

Surely something could be done about the filthiest driving by "the
force". Getting right up the arse of a motorcyclist at speed is
    dangerous and tantamount to recklessness.

I can understand why darsy wanted a brief now.

I try to tag onto something going at the same speed (ish) as me and
follow it from a distance of about 1/4 of a mile or so. The hope is
that this will wake any traffic cars in front of me.

If anything is doing a similar speed to me (behind me) that doesn't look
'right' and I pull over and slow down to let it pass- if it doesn't I
sit at 65 or so until it does, inspect it then **** off.

I think it's all down to luck to be honest.

My thoughts exactly. It's most mornings on the way to work.

    I shook my head at the commentary. If this is the best we have to face;
    we're all fucked.
There but for the 'grace of Ged'[1] go I.

    [1] Is that possible?

The merkins have a term for it. "Running interference," they call it.
A merkin football term that came to be used during prohibition I believe
    and an excellent strategy IMHO.

    This also.
Not all of it. A little well applied nouse helps more than most folks
    realise.

  20. I think it was Adny Woodwrad that came up with the term "sacrificial
