Just put up 10 items, some of which are pretty bulky - amplifiers etc....
What's the current view on best courier service for someone who has no
relationship with any? I really CBA to lug all this stuff to the PO, I'd
never get it there in less than 4 trips....

    Thanks

FWIW my local CityLink franchise are diamonds. Just call them up and
    ask them to come fetch.

  4. assuming you mean domestic shipping, then take a look at parcels2go or
    whatever they are called.

If you want a carrier, then Target are pretty good.

Bunch of useless cunts. They never find my house; everyone else does.
They lie about coming to my house and finding no one in; I was in and in
any case they didn't leave a card.

The last package they claimed "Wrong post code"... It fucking wasn't.

I really, really don't think they should be in business.

You're not getting yours via their Ashford branch, do you?

Although their card leaving seems to have improved considerably after
one incident that had me point out to them that "Timo sitting in his
office right above the front door" and "nobody in" were two very
different scenarios, and not leaving a card and then not wanting to
cough up the parcel because I didn't have said card was not very
    customer friendly, either.

They eventually found said parcel after a fairly large dose of irate
    boxhead.

Oddly enough, since that little incident I get carded OK, and their
usual Saturday moaning staff is quite polite when I come to pick it up.
You haven't used HDNL (the people Amazon use for their cheap delivery)
    then.

IME the quality of the delivery service is almost unduly influenced by
the way the local depot is run. And a lot of them aren't run that
    well...

FWIW my local CityLink franchise are diamonds. Just call them up and
they claimed to have delivered a 40" Sammy LCD to my house 3 times, no
card or owt. Only cause I rang up chasing it that I found out. Oh and I
have an 85 YO neighbour who usually meets teh postman before he's even
knocked on my door with parcels so I KNOW it wasn't just me.

I thought this was going to be another typeface request, rather than a
    common or garden font one.

Use them all the time for heavy/big stuff, like complete engines.

It's a franchise, innit. Ours are really good. OTOH our Amtrak man is a
    joke.

Well, I've just dropped £50 their way, and am remarkably pleased so far.
Didn't book collection until 5pm yesterday, DHL turned up at 1pm today, all
very efficient flurry of stickers / signatures / manifests etc. And now I
can track their progress happily out of Croydon to...who knows where. I
    guess that's the real test...

But so far, so good. And a lot cheaper, and easier, than Wallington PO,
what with its smell of the 50s, staff to match, and inevitable massed
    throng of flids.

    Ta. Good tip.
