At the moment it's a bit of a kitten. I was going to do the standard K&N and
Micron job, but a couple of people have suggested that this might be a bad
idea. My main reason for doing it is not so much to make it faster
(although that's never a bad thing), but to make it a little more audible.
Also, it idles a bit unevenly, so I suppose I need to do the carb-balancing
    trick... but it's a 1998 fuel-injection model.

I was wondering - firstly, does anyone else think it's a BAD idea to put an
after-market filter and end-can on it, and secondly, is balancing carbs the
same when you have them as when you don't (if you see what I mean)?

Oh come on. It's a VFR: now it sounds polite. If you make it louder,
    it'll sound POLITE.

Apparently, the EFI system can't make enough adjustments to the fuel /
air mix to properly compensate for the improved breathing.

Which means you really need to add-in the cost of a Power Commander and
    set-up to the above.

IMHO, it's really not worth it on a VFR800. You'll never make it
'exciting' no matter what you do to it. Enjoy it for what it is.
