Facelift model XJ600 Diversion. The one with twin discs.

Surprised the VFR doesn't have 'em.

  2. You should really have them fitted, the speed you ride.

Rich and I went from Gillingham to Charlton Park for a rugby match in
1980. On my TS185. With our kit in a rucksack on Richard's back.

Wheelies from the lights were unavoidable, but the long slog down the
A2 was purgatory[1], and the last thing I needed after my first (and
    last) non-school rugby match.

Two up to Brighton on a KH250 was bliss by comparison. Though this
could have been enhanced by swapping Richard for the lovely Denise. :)

[1] Even more so for Rich, as the pillion pegs were on the swinging
    arm.

I got 28/35 on the LGV, and I didn't understand half of the questions.

Bollocks, I only got 26. I blame not knowing what colour which lines were
and how many copies of the gubbins sheet I needed.

  7. ****. Well I just got back and by **** is it slow! hehehe.

5 fucking days he reckons.[1] With all the test fees, practical before
the test, lorry hire and all that assorted shite, it's gonna be over
    £1,200! That's assuming I pass first time.

[1] Saying I was used to driving a shit van no no brakes, no handbrake
and a clutch that bites on the floor fell on stoney silence.

    ****!

You could always tell him about the thing with the envelope.

What are you learning in? I did my cat C training and test in a 7.5T
Iveco - which was a joke as I had the entitlement on my licence already.

My instructor wasn't impressed when I started doing 50 in a single
    carriageway NSL...

  10. One of these: http://www.wallaceschool.co.uk/images/index_3.jpg

A ten tonner by all accounts which as technicallyy a class 2 isn't
really much bigger than a 7.5 tonner. In fact, that's what I thought it
was. The blerdy thing's got a five speed box as well which isn't quite
    what I was expecting either.
    Lucky bastard. I didn't get above 30.

I think I'll take Ginge's advice and tell him about the envelope.

Good luck and here is a simple little adage to remember is "gears for go &
brakes for slow" Don't use your gearbox to slow the lorry... use your brakes
and change the gear once you've scrubbed off the speed. It took me quite a
while to get out of the cog down & match revs method.

  12. I told off a few times for that. Another thing is the brakes. They don't
seem to work slowly IYSWIM. I mean they're either on or off. If you're
going along at a snail's pace 10mph and rest your foot on the pedal,
nothing happens, you have to actually *put* your foot on the brakes. I
    mean it's all or nothing, there doesn't seem to be that much control;
not what I'm used to in a van or on a bike anyway.

    Cheers.
