Just had the bike serviced this week. Was riding to work yesterday and
decided to give it a bit of a squirt on a quiet back street to see how
    much better it was going.

Came out of the roundabout in second gear, gave it a squirt and watched
in the rear view mirror as an un-marked Falcon did a u-turn from being
parked on the opposite side of the road with his tax collecting machine on.

    He clocked me at 103.

Luckily, the bloke was in a good mood and he liked the bike. He knocked
it down to 30km/h over. He said that he saw that I was just giving it a
bit on a straight piece of road and not stupidly overtaking anyone or
    anything like that.

I thanked him several times and was on my way. Got to work, got on the
internet and paid the ticket (still thinking how lucky I was to get off
    with what I did).

That afternoon , I rode home the slowest and most carefully I have done
    in a long while.

Goes to show that being pulled over has much more of an effect than a
fixed speed camera and a fine in the mail 2 weeks later.

Today, I got the train to work :)

Fark. I got off very lightly with a ticket for 15-30km/h over, 3 points
    and a $238 fine.

Hang on; isn't 30-over exactly the same penalty as 43-over?
I think you've fallen for the old "I'll knock it down to 116" con.

This was in a 50 zone.

    Hmmm?.... coming out of a roundabout, car was on the other side of the road;
assume that you are in no doubt that all was set up correctly to make a
    legit assessment?
or perhaps another case of money for old rags (?)
