Bikers of the city you have been warned.
Don't fang up King St in the morning, saw a cop with hairdryer up on the
    footpath outside MLC.
Cheeky prick, I never have seen one there before but now they have sunk to a
    new low.
Quite easy to get caught doing heaps over up there on a bike if you are
trying to catch the lights and avoid the kamikaze pedestrians that love to
    run out onto the road.
    This was about 7.00am.

  7. Hmmm. Took a spin up King St, and there weren't no copper there. Come to
think of it, there weren't no MLC either.

Mind you, there was an unmarked car on Bridge St yesterday.

Probably targetting irresponsible road users that may fail to dodge kamikaze
    pedestrians.

Im riding the streets of sydney about 50 hours a week and there has
been a big increase in cops, especially bike cops (the worst kind!).
There's been a lot more un marked cars, speed cameras in the city and
general presence and pulling people over. Last week there were two
motorcycle cops on the bridge just after the corkscrew from the cahill
expressway. They were pulling bikes over for random rego/license
checks. I've been followed a few times by the guys on bikes and im
sure they were running my details. I got pulled over by a bike cop for
lane splitting a few weeks ago too; he didnt ticket me, but only
because it would have been too big of a hassle for him. Really seemed
    out to 'get' someone.

How to stay out of trouble? No easy answers! they are using guerilla
tactics, so by the time you hear about it its probably too late.
drivers in the city are all on two ways, so we get to hear a bit more,
but then we get exposed to a lot more risk too... I still figure the
odds of getting caught are slim. lots of us and few of them, even with
the increased patrols. And while i have noticed a lot more bikers
getting pulled over, its nothing compared to the number i can see
riding around with happy faces. If you are unlucky to get pulled over,
you might get an arsehole or you might get a human being. If its the
first not much you can do; grin and bear it... he might make a mistake
with the paperwork. Keep your license well buried... getting it out
will give you time to talk. Dont argue, try to appear reasonable and
emphasize safety and common sense. I've talked a couple of bigger
fines with points down to smaller fines and no points and i've heard
lots of stories of guys doing the same.

According to yesterday's West WA has 60,000 unlicenced drivers and 70,000
unlicenced vehicles on the roads. Gives the coppers a good chance of finding
    one or the other.

I love statistics like that.... how do they count the unlicensed
drivers; is there a special place to register if you're going to be
    driving unlicensed?
