Converting 90' ZX6 to 'Coil On Plug'

    Hello,

I have a 90' ZX6 sand drag bike. It currently has the stock ignition
setup. What I would like to do is replace the two coils with four
coil-on-plug modules. Because the stock setup with two coils is a
wasted spark configuration, the COP's will have to be wired such that
two are fired at a time.

I tried connecting this up with some COP modules off of a newer CBR.
On the bench I could get a spark by connecting one of the two COP
wires to +12V, and switching the gound connection, but the spark was
weak. When I tried to start the bike, it fired here and there, but
    not enough to start.

Any ideas why this didn't work? My guess is that the COP expect a
high voltage fed into the primary (maye 300V?), like a capacitive
    discharge ignition.

Thank for you ANY ideas you may have!

    - Miles.
