I don't know if it's made it's way to Blighty yet, but I caught a pretty good documentary last night called "Control Room". http://imdb.com/title/tt0391024/ To quote IMDB, it was "A documentary on perception of the United States's war with Iraq, with an emphasis on Al Jazeera's coverage." It was very successful in making Al Jazeera look very, very fair and balanced and the US press handlers look pretty naive and somewhat incompetent. The peach was a discussion between a reporter and the Lieutenant handling the press. The reporter was raising a point about the deaths of civilians in a bomb strike and the Iraqi public's response to the aftermath. The Lt.'s response was along the lines of " we spent a lot of money using accurate bombs when we could have used cheap bombs and killed a lot more civilians" and just couldn't seem to understand why the reporter didn't think that the answer would calm tensions in the area. The most interesting moment was the use of some well intertwined footage clips of Al Jazeera coverage and of Donald Rumsfeld's statements, which made Rumsfeld sound very much like Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf (a.k.a. Comical Ali), in his denial of the Al Jazeera coverage. It's well worth catching if you get the chance.
