continuous running fan

Discussion in 'Motorbike Technical Discussion' started by Lynda A Langley, Jul 3, 2005.

  1. Recently I went to a restaurant. When I came back out the radiator fan to my
Vulcan 750 was still running. I turned the motorcycle on and off and the fan
    went off.
I did not think about it again when I came home. The next day the fan ran
untill it drained the battery. When I started to charge the battery when the
motorcycle had not even been running, the fan came on again. Is the thermo
sensor to the radiator bad? Is there a short circuit? I do not want to spend
a lot of money replacing parts until I have some idea what to do first. Does
anyone have some ideas, why the fan was stuck on.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This just happened to my Gpz900 a week or so ago. When I started to trace
the wiring looking for a short, I found the plug at the relay was fouled by
corrosion, I cleaned it up and no problems since!
