What are the legal requirements for a 1979 motorcycle in
France/Belgium/Germany. Specifically mirrors and indicators, or lack of
    them.

If a bike complies with the UK requirements does that automatically mean
it's fit for use in other European countries.

Should be unless it's clearly dangerous, i.e. if bald tyres were legal
in the UK you could get nabbed for that. Keep in mind that you are
using it there but not exporting. If you were doing the latter then
who'd have to comply with local regs.

  3. It can be used in other countries, but may not necessarily be legally
registered there. You'd need to check in each of the countries
concerned. I know that indicators, for example, weren't a legal
requirement on UK bikes until 1986, for example, but I've no idea about
    the others.

And let's not forget headlight dipping.

If you want to know about the difficulties involved in France, for
example, google for dog's saga of registering his missus Hilary's CBR400
Baby Blade (believed at the time to be the only one legally registered
in France, and quite possibly still so).

Hence the reason I was asking, is the position on indicators the same
    across Europe?

It's an MZ and (I'm pretty sure) they don't dip to the side but down [1].
    Is this a problem?

I don't want to register it, just ride it to Frankfurt and, importantly,
    back.

Having seen the state of a lot of mopeds and small bikes in Europe I
    don't know why I'm worried.

In which case, no probs. if it's road legal in Britain, it's legal
there, as long as you don't plan to register it or anything.

Well, they tend to stick out the sides on the Continent as well...
