The thing that annoyed me the most about the whole 'process' was that
they only announced that they were going to ban semi-automatic weapons
(silly idea but at least that was consistent with what they'd said).

Then out of the blue, with no warning all of a sudden they restrict pump
action shotguns as well!

THAT pissed me off. If someone says they are going to do something and
they do it (even if I don't agree with it), then at least they are
showing the courage of their convictions.

But these idiots didn't even have that in their favor.

Some of them couldn't even explain (when asked) the differences between
the various types of firing methods.

- Oh we're banning all semi-autos (those are like military weapons -
wrong, that's full auto capable not semi-auto) (later relaxed to allow 3
shot mags on shotguns).

- Oh we're banning pump action shotguns (later relaxed to allow 3 shot
mags) (but they aren't even semi-autos!) [It's about the fire rate you
see they said].

- Oh no we're not banning lever action rifles (but pump action shotguns
have a similar fire rate to lever action rifles) [how dare you point
that out on radio, shut up or we'll ban these too!].

The only performance as uninformed and unwilling to listen to reason
that I can compare it to is our current communications ministers
insistence on mandatory filtering (another solution that won't do
anything except penalize people who aren't the ones causing the problem).

I can't stand up and defend things I don't know are happening.

Depends on what the nature of the threats were, and what was said/done
which you classify as intimidating.

I certainly would not sanction the sort of psychopathic shit the

However, since naming and shaming usually does the trick with the
cockroaches you're talking about, I wouldn't advocate anything serious
beyond that.

and the courts would have been able to deal with them.

It is incidental to the broader principle of shoving it right back up

the rest of society by way of threats, intimidation, or actual
physical violence, is the way to go.

Let's have the police, army, navy, and air force do something useful
for a change...

I took out a roo from 1 kilometre once and the bloody panel beater didn't
like it either.

 

I did have a 5 shot pump action short barrel shotgun, classed as a coachgun,
and I could put the 5 shots out as fast as a friends 3 shot auto Browning
shotgun.
