I much prefer a country full of pissed off ex gun owners than full of
pissed off people with access to guns. One of very few good decisions
Howard made, but pity he didn't go far enough and ban them all.

    Well, there you go then...

Why don't you just take Doug's and G-S's take on what I'm on about.
    You'll sleep better that way.

I no longer have any guns as I do not have the need for them. When the
Government took my guns I was not pissed off, just amused that I was paid
over $8,000 for $1,500 worth of guns. They did not have a clue what they
    were buying.

I have, Grasshopper. All of his questions would be redundant if he
had bothered to read the thread so far.

He comes into the class late (as usual) and arrogantly expects the
teacher to bring him up to date.

Well that's not going to happen.

He can either go back and read the whole thread himself, or he can get
the "gilded youths" to explain it to him. Good luck to him.

He has clearly indicated in the past that he thinks I'm full of shit,
    so, I owe him nothing.

    Objection !!!

My learned collegue is still trying it on, Yerronner...

In order to distort, he has "accidentally" omitted the word "nearly".

Yerronner, I submit that by changing "nearly impossible" to
"impossible", he has radically changed the meaning of what was said.

He is tampering with the meaning in order to try to score a cheap
    point. He is disingenuous, Yerronner...

[aside] JL,, you want me to give this intellectual shyster the time
of day? Gimme a break !!!

If you have nearly a million dollars, are you fucking loaded to the
gills, or are you broke? If you have nearly a full glass of water, do
you have enough water to drink.. or no water? If something is nearly
impossible, is it impossible, plus or minus a negligible amount, or is
it easily achieved? Radically changed? LOL.

It wasn't in VietNam. Remember.. you were never there.. and neither
were the others you were there with. Shhhhh. Our favourite nutbag is
usually so far off the mark he probably wasn't there either.

    Dearest Nev,

I am taking the time to write to you because your are clearly a
person who has missed out on a decent education. How sad...

Perhaps it was not your fault. Perhaps you just sat at the back of
the class being the village idot, disrupting everyone else's education
    opportunity. I don't know.

What I DO know is that you're a fucking moron.

But, being the benevolent soul that I am, I'll now waste my time
trying to fill one little hole in that Swiss cheese you call your
    education.

The word "nearly" has several different nuances, Neville.... (go now
and look up the word "nuance".)

Oh good, you're back already! Good boy !!!

OK, lets continue... One nuance (now that you know what that means),
the most literal one, is the one you display in your dumbfuckery here
    and now.

Another nuance, Dearest Nev, is the nunace I will now give you two
    examples of:

[1] Nearly killed: e.g. You are on an ozmoto ride, you can't quite
keep up with the hoons out front, but being the wanker that you are,
you try. You run wide on a left hander, and you have a close
encounter with a Mack truck going the other way. You nearly got
    killed. Get it?

[2] Nearly succeeded: e.g. You go to the Easter Show and you watch
the dirt bike daredevils going up ramps and doing summersaults before
doing perfect touch-downs. You're impresssed !!! You say "I can do
that !!!" and you go home, build a ramp, get on your DL1000K8, zap up
the ramp, and it all goes pear shaped. In mid air, suddenly
rediscovering your will to live, you decide to separate yourself from
the tumbling behemoth about to become a pile of scrap metal, and you
land flat on your back, badly winded, with a very sore neck and a
broken arm. Apart from nearly getting killed, you nearly did the
    nearly impossible.

    Get it? Got it? Good!!!

    Now **** off, idiot !!

"Just then they came in sight of thirty or forty windmills that rise
from that plain. And no sooner did Don Quixote see them that he said to
his squire, "Fortune is guiding our affairs better than we ourselves
could have wished. Do you see over yonder, friend Sancho, thirty or
forty hulking giants? I intend to do battle with them and slay them.
With their spoils we shall begin to be rich for this is a righteous war
and the removal of so foul a brood from off the face of the earth is a
    service God will bless."

You're not the figging judge. You're the mouthpiece for the bikers.
    I get that...

    Ok. I'll induge you.

You asked if I consider "impossible to prove" to
    equate with "not guilty".

Here's my answer: Just because it is (hypothetically) impossible to
prove that that you murdered your mother, it does not folllow that you
are not guilty of mudering your mother.

I know where you're trying to go with this, so I'll jump ahead and
meet you there: Just becasue I cannot get a 'guilty" verdict in a
court, it does not follow that you did not kill your mother. Just
because you got away with a crime, it des not follow that you did not
    do it.
    No. Most definitely not.

Being found (by a court) to be "not guilty" is in no way the same as
being innocent of the crime. That's why the verdicts are pronounced
as "not guilty". Otherwise the verdicts would be pronounced as
    "innocent".

A least the courts can tell the difference between "unproven" and "not
    so". Pity you can't.
