Well these are the things the majority of people are probably happy to pay for, is that why you chose them? They spend a slew of money elsewhere that you could get a 66% vote against. I mused about what people would be happy to vote for not what you or I might think is fair. Capital Punishment and much more of the wage packet in the pocket are both sure fire vote winners. You are not naive enough to believe otherewise and also I reckon the majority of people think there are quite a few groups who shouldn't get the same *decent & fair* treatment that *they* deserve. Same goes for a suggestion that we remain part of a European Common Market but withdraw from the EU Commission madness and stop all net funding of the EU. Would draw votes in droves.
My record was coming into work Friday morning and going home Sunday afternoon, which would be about 50+ hours, I guess.
we weren't talking about clarity of the level of taxation, we were talking about clarity of what taxes were spent on. Putting all the tax in one (income) basket doesn't do anything to help this. I'm all for a low flat income tax and then a progressive set of VAT rates, starting at zero for basic foodstuffs and childrens' clothing and working up to, say, 50% tax on Ducatis.
(Andy Hewitt) wrote Well, at least I never got my undercarriage greased Looks like I could run faster than the rest back then ! Cheers, Paul.
You really are a twat, aren't you ) I renege on my previous statements, children are one commodity which should be priced out of reach for the great majority.
Not that I'm disagreeing with this, but what exactly in the previous statement leads you to think that? FWIW I tend to agree with darsy on this. I'd prefer to remove income tax altogether and pay tax on only what I buy.
Only on the Child Vs. Ducati question! Couldn't work, Govmint needs to have a good idea of how much dosh is coming in to fund services etc. That said I think that Govmint should be an investor, eventually tax could be abolished.
Do you think the fact that Darsy has two semi-adopted sprogs and zero ducatis might possibly be significant here? I know. Of course, I'd also like to abolish 90% of guvmint 'services', starting with the civil one.
Ahhh. Strange priorities that Lad. Seems fair! BTW, why doesn't the Govmint invest in property, land etc. to offset taxes. Anyone know?
Lemme see ... when I was doing EHOing and noise consultation on the side, I went into work for 09:00 one Friday. Put in a full day's attendance for the Council, then went to work for Mean Fiddler at Luton for the first Tribal Gathering. 07:00 Sunday I turned in my report and wafted on Red Bull fumes to Snetterton to do Environmental Inspecting for the RACMSA. I had about 40 minutes kip during the lunch break, but apart from that didn't sleep the entire time until after I'd got home Sunday night at 19:00. Snake and Pigmy, couple of beers, a few paracetamols and out for the count by 21:00. Not fresh as a daisy when rolling in to work for 09:00 Monday.
gomez wrote I used to do that sort of shite. I had a quad bypass at 50. I don't fucking do it now and neither should any of you. No amount of money is worth what damage that type of stress does to your health. None, not a fucking penny. They want some body to work 50 hours then tell the cunts to **** off get some shifts in.
Right on. They can shove it up their collective arse. -- Dave GS 850 x2 / SE 6a SbS#6 DIAABTCOD#16 APOSTLE#16? FUB#3 FUB KotL OSOS#12? UKRMMA#19
That's what I was thinking of - I take it you changed to the caustic soda method for subsequent cleanouts. I was kinda wondering just how tough the channel electron multipliers were, if they could be cleaned with a gas axe. -- Dave GS 850 x2 / SE 6a SbS#6 DIAABTCOD#16 APOSTLE#16? FUB#3 FUB KotL OSOS#12? Yes, most of the mechanics I worked with were only a few steps from their graves, so I never managed to get greased either.
