Doesn't it piss you off that the Schuberth wouldn't look out of place
parked up on the grass at Menwith Hill base? For a helmet they are
    certainly big enough.

Lozzo was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Yeah, you're right, small it isn't. For me the deciding factor was
that I'm rather sensitive to noise (prolonged exposure to noise tends
to trigger a migraine) so the considerably lower noise level to choice
    # 2 (Arai Corsair, the only other helmet that fits me properly) is
good enough for me to ignore that I'm kinda looking like I've got a
    big head...

Well unless you are the kind of biker who admires his reflection in shop
windows when he should be keeping an eye on the road it don't matter too
    much really.

I had a Schuberth Speed. It's just come to the end of its useable life (
polystyrene now compressed so the lid is a bit loose ) after 3 years of
    daily wear.

Best helmet I ever had in terms of comfort, wind noise, fit etc. The
visors had an anti-mist coating that -shock horror- actually worked!

    The vents worked too!. Madness!

If I didn't need a flip front, I'd go for another Schuberth without
    hesitation.

As it is, I do need a flip front, and the Schuberth Concept didn't fit
as well as the Shoei, so the Shoei won out.

If the Schuberth fits you, buy it.

No, but with a sharp knife you could fashion your own from those visor
inserts that cover the whole visor[1]. Just cut a strip off the top
and you're away. I reckon you could get 2-3 out of each one, making it
either 1.67 or 2.50 each, which is a fair bit less for the same thing.

As they're curved, even if you can only make one per insert, it's still
    1/3 the price.

Visionary visors, about halfway down, two for a tenner.

....which is why I want to have a close look at the thing before I make my

    What, on an MZ 150?

I wonder if he noticed the reflections of all the bystanders laughing.

    Quite the motorcycle dandy
in his derri's and his mitts
    paint in apple candy
    With shiny chromy bits.

    Takes off down the street
in a cloud of sweet 2t
    Smiles at those he meets
What a happy lad is he.

    Sees himself in co-op window
    cutting quite a dash
but watch that VOLVO up ahead
    Too late, screech, tinkle, smash.

    :)

    You all pose safely now.

platypus was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
They were looking at the DOT-approved version of the helmet...

I've just checked - my 'L' S1 has an ECE weight sticker in it that
says '1525g'. Compared to the flip lid which supposedly weighs 1740g,
this seems to be mostly correct.

Can't quite follow their comment about the noise - the helmet is
considerably more quiet than my XR800; the only problem you can run
into is when you airflow from the top of the windscreen onto the
underside of the helmet, that does increase the noise level. And the
owners manual actually points this out for those amongst us who can
read. The only 'vent noise' I noticed on this helmet is when I've got
the chin vent open, which is only to be expected. The other source of
noise clearly can be attributed to the screen height of the Pan as it
goes away if I crouch slightly behind the screen.

Their comment about the non-tabbed visor rings pretty much true. I
found I quickly got used to it, but it's not that great to close the
visor. That said, AFAIK you can get a visor with a tab on but it
    increases the noise level slightly.

As I've possibly mentioned before, IMO the Concept is crap.

    It's heavy.
    It's noisy.
The 'seatbelt' type clip is an arse to do up.
    And.. it's just bloody ugly.

If I were going to any kind of distance, I'd leave the Concept on the shelf
and take the Shoei Z1 every time.

Someone will be along shortly to tell me I know nothing.

That particular seatbelt clip? Or that type in general?

I like them, but I know that many don't. I find them more convenient
than the D rings, quicker and easier. Although it can be a pain on a
spare lid, having to adjust the strap to the right length for different
    pillions.

The Shoobs are in the same ballpark, pricewise, as a decent Arai. I've had
my well-battered Quantum/f for about 5 years, and I love it as a helmet. If
it had a sun-visor, it would be perfect. Otherwise I wouldn't be
considering anything other than another Arai to replace it.

Gimmicky, but rubbish, in my opinion.
